Another one Sad

It's OK though, the Gambling Commission are content that the Big bookies have solved this societal problem by getting some failed drama school students and overpaid actors to say "But please gamble responsibly".

Bookies by law have to put that stupid disclaimer about reckless gambling on their sites but in reality they don`t give a damn and will quite literally take the shirt of one`s back.

I have never heard of them closing one`s account for losing too much, but if you win they bar you.

It`s a sad story. Gambling is an addiction. My thoughts are with the man`s family.

No one behind the desk should be offering anything to any gambler , its like going in tesco and at the checkout they start asking if you want a bottle of rum with your case of beer or vice versa.

fcking checkout assistants

i posted a thread on general betting about whether it would be legal for bookmakers and casinos to offer three card monty (find the lady).

Is there an arbitrary level where stealing from people, which is essentially what any game of chance with -EV is, is considered unacceptable.

25% tax on FOBTs is a disgrace, it should be at least 60%.

but when it was raised 5% last year bookmakers responded by saying it was an "ill-considered raid"..
By:

The downside to that DStyle is that in the end it would be the punter paying for it.

its a joke i cant see how they let them advertise????
especially when if truth be known they'll close your account if you do win.

this is worse for your health than smoking.

but the government / HMRC are getting their little drink out of it,
so every things ok

Not exactly crags, FOBTs are like leaving loaded syringes around in a rehab lounge.  Almost worse than free booze.
By:
crags
When: 14 Nov 15 22:40
But betting shops aren't rehab places are they. A lot of us struggle with some form of compulsion, gambling, drinking, drugs, even eating too much. We just have to deal with it as best we can, can't blame others for putting temptation in our way. It's up to each of us how we handle it.

We both know FOBTs are poison.  We both know the vulnerable should be protected.  We both know ambiguity will ensure no one wins.  We both know I will eat the beating hearts of many posters on here.

Very much true, that. Just before the election, expecting not to be in a job soon, Sajid Javid (the minister in charge) gave 3 of his buddies a nice job at the gambling Commission.

FOBTs should be banned. The compulsion for some people to play them is greater than the amount of common sense telling them not to.

There is truth in that, crags. But FOBTs (especially roulette) seem to make them lose it more quickly, more damagingly for those around them.

We seem to have lost duty of care somewhere.

I've just looked behind my sofa.  It wasn't there.

Yes SF, but wouldn't they just go in the roped off areas of arcades. I'm sure they could lose money pretty quickly in there, if not quite as quickly as the FOBTs in betting shops. Just shifting the problem somewhere else. Anyway, good luck to them and good luck and goodnight to all.

So when you see someone playing the machines you should spin
