crack cocaine of gambling

Another one
![]() It's OK though, the Gambling Commission are content that the Big bookies have solved this societal problem by getting some failed drama school students and overpaid actors to say "But please gamble responsibly". |

when the fun stops STOP was sufficient enough for the government & the Gambling Commission.
all in it together |

Shop managers out on the Floor inviting Customers in for the free machine tournaments ,unbelievable

Business is business
By:
... seen a fair few betting shop staff playing on them in other shops.... and sometimes in their own shop. !!!
By:
Manager used to play them in my local laddies about 10 year ago , he moved shops probably still does
By:
Bookies by law have to put that stupid disclaimer about reckless gambling on their sites but in reality they don`t give a damn and will quite literally take the shirt of one`s back.
I have never heard of them closing one`s account for losing too much, but if you win they bar you. It`s a sad story. Gambling is an addiction. My thoughts are with the man`s family. |

Was in a shop FREDS , bloke putting a bet on for the evening football ,Manager "we have a free Machine Tourney 2moro" ,Punter "I dont know anything about machines" ,Manager "if you want a 100 play Credits I can put them on for you now",punter "not for me"
Manager "I just thought I would give you the heads up" ,I couldnt say anything as I was trying to get a couple of bets on ,calling him a fckin baldy headed cxnt would not have helped I used to manage shops ,to say I was disgusted by this ****s sly but hard sell would be an understatement, the poor fellow having the bet had not got a clue the cxnt was trying to mug him ... |
By:
Maybe the guy had played them before or knew what the fecker was upto and knew to say no , but if he gets the vulnerable's in then they are playing
By:
No one behind the desk should be offering anything to any gambler , its like going in tesco and at the checkout they start asking if you want a bottle of rum with your case of beer or vice versa.
fcking checkout assistants |

i posted a thread on general betting about whether it would be legal for bookmakers and casinos to offer three card monty (find the lady).
Is there an arbitrary level where stealing from people, which is essentially what any game of chance with -EV is, is considered unacceptable. 25% tax on FOBTs is a disgrace, it should be at least 60%. but when it was raised 5% last year bookmakers responded by saying it was an "ill-considered raid".. |
By:
The downside to that DStyle is that in the end it would be the punter paying for it.
By:
The gambling industry has too many politicians in its pocket to end this life-wrecking nonsense.

big earner for HMRC
By:
If they are stupid enough to play the FOBTs, then they deserve to lose money. A bit like me playing the Lotto
![]() |
By:
its a joke i cant see how they let them advertise????
especially when if truth be known they'll close your account if you do win. this is worse for your health than smoking. but the government / HMRC are getting their little drink out of it, so every things ok |
By:
Not exactly crags, FOBTs are like leaving loaded syringes around in a rehab lounge. Almost worse than free booze.
By:
But betting shops aren't rehab places are they. A lot of us struggle with some form of compulsion, gambling, drinking, drugs, even eating too much. We just have to deal with it as best we can, can't blame others for putting temptation in our way. It's up to each of us how we handle it.
By:
Bastard Tesco's for putting pies and cakes in their supermarkets, don't they know that fat people go in there.
By:
We both know FOBTs are poison. We both know the vulnerable should be protected. We both know ambiguity will ensure no one wins. We both know I will eat the beating hearts of many posters on here.

Gamblers will always find a way to lose their dosh

this b0llocks knew thrase that you hear non stop now
surly applies? we have a duty of care. walofs....but if thats the rules surly that counts for the above |
By:
There is truth in that, crags. But FOBTs (especially roulette) seem to make them lose it more quickly, more damagingly for those around them.
By:
We seem to have lost duty of care somewhere.
I've just looked behind my sofa. It wasn't there. |
By:
Yes SF, but wouldn't they just go in the roped off areas of arcades. I'm sure they could lose money pretty quickly in there, if not quite as quickly as the FOBTs in betting shops. Just shifting the problem somewhere else. Anyway, good luck to them and good luck and goodnight to all.

It's on top of mine, bod, but no-one wants to take it from me.

Well, Pat Eddery knew where his fate lay. We wish it were otherwise. But it wasn't. Same stuff, different stuff. Brain chemistry.
On a good day we get away with it. On a bad day we are desolate. |

YOU HAVE A DUTY OF CARE.
So when you see someone playing the machines you should spin them round & escort them to the door. |
