What have you ever been involved with that's big news?

Mememe narrowly escaped serious injury, getting out of bed and making a cup of tea this morning.  A kettleful of boiling water was literally inches from his hand when he poured scalding liquid into a metal teapot.

His wife commented "we are all so proud of him. Not many men could have gone through what he went through and still carry a tray up the stairs".

Just another example of the F1 publicity machine at work.

The Brighton Evening Argus had an unexploded bomb story and ran the headline "SHELL FOUND ON BEACH"

I believe there was a journalists' competition once where the challenge was to write the most boring news headline.  The winner went something like  "EARTHQUAKE IN CHILE; NOT MANY DEAD"

Sky Sports News is the king of the banal headline.  Eg,  "X insists that the Premier League is the best league in the world".

It follows the standard pattern of asking somebody a trivial question, then reporting his monosyllabic response as a news story.  For example,

Reporter - "Roy, do you think Jamie Vardy can score a goal on Saturday"
Roy - "Possibly, yes"

News headline = "England boss backs Premier League hotshot to keep up record breaking scoring sequence"

BBC headline today reads "Tiredness led to crash- Hamilton"
The "crash" was very light contact with a stationary car.

Lest we forget.

I did stub my toe this morning. Before you start up a collection for me though, let me tell you I am just about muddling through the worst of it.
