good heavens how sad. What a real great he was. RIP

I've just been reading about a baseball player who's died after apparently ODing on cocaine, aged 29. Then clicked on here to read this and find myself more shocked than I was about a 29yo.

Very sad news, certainly one of the best jocks of my lifetime. RIP.

Very sorry to have heard about Pat's death when I heard it on the radio earlier today.
Great jockey.

As good as any flat jockey in my lifetime.

Awful news and 63 is no age, Pat Eddery was one of the greats for sure.

Sad to say but my abiding memory of Pat Eddery was screaming at the tv calling him a fecking c u nt after a dreadful ride on my selection (Concordial) as my parents walked through the front door

That says a lot more about you than it does about him.

Nice interview with Pat on ATR now from 2011.He told a good story.

That was a good interview kenny.  Almost stopped hating Mat(t?) Chapman.  He was a great jockey and a likeable bloke.  Addiction had its claws in him and did for him in the end but he had a great 63 years and is in Racing history for as long as it lasts.  Few of us had such brilliant years.
