Personally, I`ve never seen the attraction of travelling to third world countries and with the current political and terrorist situation around the world, I just don`t get why people would still want to go there. Some of the countries that I would never visit are:

Any country in Africa
All third world countries in Asia and the Middle East
All countries that don`t sell alcohol
All South American countries
Turkey
Mexico and all other central American countries

Hark at you lot of mincers!

Seriously though, I'd guess that even most African countries could be visited without too much risk of anything much worse than being robbed, and being robbed isn't all that bad. Of course if you go to the wrong part of town you could be in for a far higher chance of trouble, but the wrong part of town is normally fairly easy to avoid if you have any sense.

Depends on your attitude to risk, really.

Well, say you go to Latin America for a month of beaches and cocktails and hot girls in bikinis but there's a 5% chance you'll get robbed.

Israel is one of the best places I've been to. There were daily riots in Jerusalem and rockets were fired into Tel Aviv on the day I left.

People should ignore the media and live a little

You've been found out .. lewisham ranger - you're only going for the "khat"
Khat contains a monoamine alkaloid called cathinone, an amphetamine-like stimulant, which is said to cause excitement, loss of appetite and euphoria.

The top boss at our place went to Bangkok in July with her husband. Month before the bomb.
Sharm El Sheikh September, month before the plave.
New York 1st week in December...best to avoid there until February it seems!

Says when it's her time to go then her times up. Just to lie on a beach it doesn't seem a risk worth taking...but like PatraTheCat says it all depends on your attitude to risk.

you only get one life... might as well live it a little.

what's it going to say on your tombstone otherwise, stayed in rotherham his whole life, but at least he got to watch more eastenders when he was 80, rather than risk it all on a two week holiday in sharm el sheikh?
