When we turn on our own citizens, tracking their movements by CTV cameras. Keeping their phone records and internet histories. Sanction payments to the needy. Talk about charging patients for a visit to their GP's. Cut working tax benefits to the poor. Close down and sell the mines to billionaires(300 years of coal). Cancel the benefit systems Britain has had since the second world war. Shut down Libraries. paint sponsorship logos onto everything that moves. show pop videos with flashing images that sends some people into seizures. Turning everything against the citizenry?

where is Britain now? Is Britain still Britain any more?

Still Britain put not much left to sell off. What happens when everything has been sold off and the proceeds have been spent? Answers on a postcard to Conservative Campaign Headquarters, 4 Matthew Parker Street, London SW1H 9HQ

Something that seems to get so little attention, but in the long run is extremely worrying.  We have sold off our biggest sports clubs, our utility companies, our energy providers and manufacturing bases, our good property in our big cities........and so it goes on.

Under foreign ownership, the new proprietors can presumably do what they like in the mid/long term when they want to up the prices of property, utilities, energy, entertainment etc.  We will have no say, as we have been sold so far down the river, it's too late to swim back against the tide.

It's like taking out a massive mortgage on your house, spending all the money, then getting upset when the lender increases your repayments way beyond what you can afford, leaving you out on the street with a lifetime of debt that you'll never be able to pay off.

Massive cultural change too.

The 'Diana / Facebookisation' of life, whereby it's not enough to grieve in your own way - you have to be SEEN to grieve, preferably harder and with more intensity than the person next to you.

You WILL share! You WILL emote! You will be emotionally labile to the point of total embarrassment to anyone bought up with the 'just get on with it' approach to life.

When North Koreans do this 'emote on demand' schtik when the glorious leader has an ingrowing toenail, little realising we are no different.

Britain stopped being what it was in the early 1970s in my opinion.

Ruined by Labour Government overspending

Ruined by Trades Unions and their leaders - not members I add

Ruined by Tory Greed and sell offs to their mates

Ruined by setting low standards for education - FFS everybody now has a degree in something

Ruined by ridiculous immigration "policies"

Ruined by Celebrity culture

Ruined by multiculturism

Ruined by nonsensical political correctness

Ruined by corruption in our Public Sector

Ruined by dishonest MPs

Can't think of anything else, so perhaps Britain's not so bad after all ... perhaps I've missed something

Ruined by Labour Government overspending?????

There was no over spending, that is a lie which has been believed in the continual retelling

It was the Credit Crunch which has caused global recession, this was a product of capitalism

The money Labour spend was to try and create a better and fairer society for everybody, although
I admit it does need pruning now and again

All the Tories do is to take money from the poor to give back to the rich in tax cuts
They want large numbers of people on subsistence wages, so the rich can exploit them and get even richer.
I have never seen our society as vicious and unfair as it is now in my lifetime, Cameron is even worse than Thatcher

I hope the voters see sense and bring back socialism, or we are going to end up back in the times of Charles Dickens

Allowing massive immigration has harmed us, we now need both immigration and birth control urgently

we are increasing our population when we are in economic decline...this is insanity.

ps
One thing that is better are our goods and services, but is the worth the price?

don't disagree with some of your points but as far as corruption goes, we're only scratching the surface of most countries.

you see old war films of the forties and realise everything has been given a monetary value. people nowadays get paid to eat insects on tv? get tattoos on gameshows. get naked for a dare. I think what would a soldier in the second ww think of rap music with their gangsta lyrics. what would the planet look like if Hitler had won. Tom Baker was right. we need the daleks to kill the hippies.

It's like Lemon Party in here!

A bunch of old men w@nking each other off about the good old days!

Britain has not changed one bit really. Youth culture still baffles the middle aged and elderly. 'It's all gone to pot' and 'it's not as good as it used to be' are still terms that hold great weight. Multiculturalism will still be the death of us all. The permissive society has been with us half a century yet it's still all wrong.

I mean, we don't have rickets and diphtheria anymore and there hasn't been a UK mainland war (a proper one, with rationing and Gracie Fields) for most of our lifetimes but there's ebola and a tsunami of refugees breaking like waves on our shores for us all to get hot under the collar about.

fair enuff - i recognise i'm being an old fuddy duddy - but history points out morals get laxer before a blow up. turning on your own people instead of reinforcing them to beat the competition is stupid.
