(posted on footy in error) It appears that chit chat is quite old from some of the posts I'm reading. Retired, started work in the 70's etc - I'm feeling quite young at almost 53 - Am I a spring chicken on here?

When I'm feeling old I just remember that there isn't a single atom in my body that's been here more than 7 years. Then I'm like a kid again, s****ing at boobs etc etc

I doubt that's true, doesn't sound right. Maybe for your muscles, but your bones and teeth, can't see it.
I mean your teeth are pretty much unchanging once you're an adult? If you've a root canal it's kind of dead, and it'll still be not much different to the one next to it.

Also, like most normal people we both drink our own p*ss, so you know, it recycles things Laugh

Bone tissue is constantly renewed but tooth enamel isn't.
I recall a programme about the Amesbury Archer (a bronze age skeleton) where they determined that he came from a region of the Alps from analysis of isotopes in his tooth enamel.

I think I read they can underestimate or didn't consider how much is reused, as your body tries to be efficient. So ok cells break down but the body can reabsorb the components again, even from your gut. So the atom in your thumb may go when the cell dies, but then the next day it's part of your knee Laugh.

I'm not sure where I read that but it makes absoulte sense than any animal that can efficiently reabsorb the parts of dead cells will have a good evolutionary advantage, so it makes sense.

Chit Chat is catnip to disgruntled white men 50+.  I've seen it on other forums.
They get to a certain age and start looking back with rose coloured specs.  Some of them are so predictable its hard to believe they're serious.

Ranting on a forum is therapy for them so we mustn't be to harsh because life in 2015 isn't easy for them.

I've still got the body of an 18 year old.

Unfortunately I have the memory of a 70 year old and can't remember where I left her.

I must say that most days, when I get up out of bed, I still feel like an 18 year old.... haven't had one for many a year though... Sad

Why Are We So Old?

Failure to embrace rap music, multiculturalism and the fact that Lenny Henry is the funniest f'ker alive probably.

Who under the age of 30 even knows who Lenny Henry is?

In answer to the OP; it's because we haven'd died. Yet.

Interesting post, this one.

Apparently we don't know much about ageing process. Body's cells die and are replaced by new ones all the time. So why we get old is a mystery.

So if anybody tells you that you're not the person you once were (usually your wife), on this occasion they are right.
