Made the decision to get rid of  accounts records going back to '82.

A daunting and almost impossible task! Far too much to shred.

Don't like the idea of sending it for re-cycling, nor do I fancy going through it all to make certain there is nothing "sensitive" in amongst.

Can't burn it as just far too much, and every sheet would have to be crumpled up as it won't burn otherwise.

I made a start by just ripping off account details but was getting nowhere fast (eight cubic feet, or more, is a lot of paper)!

Maybe I'm being too careful, and should just bin it, as can't imagine what anyone could gain from it!

My advice is burn it on the new barbecue, after you've cooked the chorizo sausages and cajun salmon I recommended, obviously.

5 sheets a day, you'll be done by Christmas (2315)!

Send it off to Nigeria as they have a great paper recycling industry there

Compost it.
get a large compost bin, put some woody sticks in the bottom then layer paper, grass cuttings and kitchen peelings. Water well with stale urine and leave for 6 months.

Don't giva a whatsits about fifteen years (it's actually five years and I retired in 2009!

My accountant has all records if needed in any case.

If/when I move from here there's no way I'll cart all this stuff with me, and I certainly don't want family having the task.

Just looked at pro shedding services, as I recall a business associate having it done, but they must have had a cubic metre or more of the stuff.

Don't think anyone would bother with what I have.

I guess I could give back hander to the operatives at York Crematorium!

The Krankies have lost £9k  to fraudsters who might have got details
from papers they put in bin?? Jeanette Krankie is one of those unlucky
people, she even fell off a beanstock.

I use PHS datashred AP. They'll come to your house and take it away. I usually wait until I've 8 bags each weighing circa 20kg, costs 40 quid.
They send the bags out ahead and you fill em up. Safe and secure, all certificated. I'm local to you, so know they'll come out to where you are.

There's still time, find a big bonfire tonight and chuck it on?

That's what I'm doing tonight with the 9,999 unsold copies from the 10,000 run of the "Men of Chit Chat Naked Group Hugs" charity calendar.

They had footage of I think it was the Lewes fire on the TV.
Your paper would barely be kindling, it was huge.

Been thinking hard about this ...

Answer is to tell local newspaper that it's a dossier on child sex abuse by establishment figures.  Write a big sign entitled "Dossier on Establishment Child Sex Abuse" and put it on top of pile of paper.

Tell newspaper that it's the only copy and you want it to be stored somewhere safe so that authorities can investigate.

Then leave front door unlocked (saves it getting damaged), drive to M & S and buy all those foods that we forumites are all recommending to you.
When you get back paper will have disappeared.

Update....

Happy to report that it went onto the dying embers of a bonfire, and was quite spectacular.....Wink
