I don't do art. Arty farty nonsense. Tracey Emin can smell my cheese, as can the **** who cuts up sheep.

I don't do programmes about art either. It's not my bag. But flicked past this programme on BBC1 (nearly finished now) and have been transfixed. Mainly as they were talking about the Angel of the North at the time and I do like that. Hugely striking.

Aside from doing that - which after initial criticism is surely a massive success (isn't it? does anyone not like it?) he also did the statues on the beach near Liverpool, the plinth thing in Trafalgar Square with members of the public doing 1 hour slots.

A very interesting guy who has done some brilliant things in my utterly untrained eye. Will be definitely watching from the start on catch up. Great programme.

Definitely recommend you catch this on iplayer, even if not at all interested in art. Fascinating programme.

I lost interest half way through. I knew of his work, of course, but didn't find the man behind the work very interesting at all.

"Another Place".... the 100 cast iron, life-size, statues of himself along the beach and in the water between Crosby and Waterloo is a lovely bit of work.
