I've just been having a quick look at the latest missives from some of the Stoke players on Twitter - something I do about once a month, or less.

Peter Odemwingie has retweeted this from Matt Smith (sports journalist and presenter) who's obviously seen it elsewhere:

How very apt.

I wonder what the great Sir Stanley Matthews would think of Twatter? Shocked

From what I've heard, he'd probably buy shares in it if he could make a quid or two!

Jimmy Greenhof was my favourite Stoke player.

Were originally called Stoke Ramblers which is a bit of a surprise given their location.

haha! From what I've heard he was, Mac!

Might have been a great footballer, of that there is no doubt, but as tight as a duck's sphincter and always out for his own ends are stories I've heard about him ever since.
Starting with the time I had a verruca as a kid and was attended to by SCFC's chiropodist!

Sounds like my lifetime pal, lol. His wife told me that he takes his battery out his watch when he goes to bed. Laugh

There was a guy I used to work with who had been everywhere and done everything, you must have met similar tommy, a braggard (and that`s me being polite) or as we call them up here a *** of **** Shocked

He once told us that he lost his big toe to frostbite in the sixties when on National Service but it grew back on!

How's your dad, Mac?

He said that he played for Ipswich during the 50s, so I checked players records and surprise surprise, no trace of him, lol.

He said he was radio operator and was on a night mission. It was pitch dark and he stumbled and fell off a mountain. He thought he was a goner but his radio pack got caught on a branch 500 feet down and he was pulled to safety when daylight broke. ha.ha.ha.

CC had another small stroke a fortnight ago tommy, but has made a good recovery. Sight almost gone, hearing bad, immobile, but still positive and as sharp as a tack. Thanks for asking mate, appreciate that. I will let CC know!

- by heck, that was bad timing.

The 'great stuff' was to you post about the braggard - and most certainly not about your dad.

Give him my best regards, Mac - and treasure him.

lol tommy. No worries mate.

How are you yourself?

Are you still going on nights out to Hanley with all them loose women?

I certain will treasure CC tommy. I wish I had the same outlook on life. No old folks home for CC, and I don`t mean any offence to people who can`t cope and have no other option.

I'm fine, thanks Mac, hope you are too.

I'm currently out and about up ''anley duck' putting a reign on all the loose women, if you will!

Can't say too much, but a conversation from a few nights ago went something like this, after a young lady on the verge of inebriation said to me after spotting my name badge:

"Tommy, I'm going to wee if you don't hurry up!"

"No, no. You really aren't"

"But I am!"

"No. You are not."

Guffaws of laughter from the young lady and her mate because of the way I said she wasn't going to wee - and she didn't!

Indeed, Mac.

Everyone's life is different - especially to what they can and can't withstand.

When you've got a bloody good dad though you treasure them all you can, 'cos once they've gone, there's no replacing them.
Ever.
