Next time everyone will be throwing their kids on. If it were an adult they'd end up locked up.
The Steward was only doing his job. |

The thread is about the magnanimous gesture by Sonny Williams ffs!
By:
N1 Sonny, encourage pitch invasions ffs!

lol
I juat don't see this as a good news story that the media are potraying. Next time bring your kid and throw him on the pitch or better still run on yourself. You can always quote Sonny in your defence. |
By:
It is low level crime but running onto a pitch should not be rewarded . This medal is worth thousands of pounds.
The police did not give these two guys a reward for running on the pitch earlier in the World Cup. http://www.northantstelegraph.co.uk/news/crime/crime-news/crawley-man-reported-after-rugby-world-cup-pitch-invasion-1-6982763 |

I thought it was a beautiful thing to do

Guess we're all half full/ half empty guys.
I agree with the altruism but the whole thing is wrong on so many levels. |

By:
He's now asked for it back.

No doubt the steward will be portrayed as "Darth Vadar".....Ovalman spot on
By:
Sonny's got a replacement medal now !
By:
"I agree with the altruism but the whole thing is wrong on so many levels." spot on Ovalman.

Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if the whole thing was a PR stunt. Utter cringe to see the teenager hugging him (Pure attention seeking). Williams posted another photo of the young fella on his twitter few hours ago.....Seems coincidental they just bumped into each other yet again. The fact he wanted to give SF tickets to a syrian refugee showed he has the brain capacity of a turnip.
Pure marketing PR 5hite |

You could be right Racingqueen, Millions of viewers, it was nailed on to get the "Rush to Gush" brigade on their twatter/mugbook accounts in double quick time.
By:
I don't get it at all. It's only a treasured possession to the person that won it or their family.
Sonny Bill converted to Islam in 2008, so although a sporting legend he has a serious lack of judgement. |
By:
The act will be related to his religion rather than a cynical act or a PR stunt
By:
Be along the lines of you can only find glory in Allah, so the medal, as the representation of personal glory, means little.

Giving gold to a Kafir – Concealer of the Truth (Non-Muslims) hardly qualifies as a righteous deed. It's totally irresponsible, hey kid do something you shouldn't and you get a gold medal, great message, sorry CLYDEBANK, I don't buy it he knew millions were watching and chose to glorify himself with this stunt.
I think he has belittled the honour bestowed on him and his team mates. |
By:
It will glorify himself to some. Others will think like me he's a bit daft. Others like you will think he was being cynical.
By:
Yes I'm sure there will be many different takes on this one CLYDEBANK. Maybe I'm too bl00dy cynical, but it just doesn't sit well with me.
By:
Yep I'm being very cynical and judgemental, I definitely need to lighten up.

That little boy now has more world cup winners medals than the welsh, french, scots and Irish nations combined.
