Have any of you experienced this?

A couple of weeks ago there were five cases at my grandson's nursery. It's highly contagious (particularly to children) and has a ten day
incubation period, so we were expecting he would also get it.

Two days ago he wasn't very well, and yesterday his temperature hit 39.5 (that's just about A&E time) but Gem got it down from all available advice.

Anyway he's not bad today, but Gem has got it, starting with mouth ulcers, and the rest will no doubt follow.

I had this, when I was about 30. Probably caught from one of my kids, who were little at the time.
Apparently it's very common for young children to get hand, foot and mouth without anyone really noticing, but when you're older you do notice.
Sad
I had spots on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet, a temperature and felt like crap for a few days.
The doctor paid me a house call visit (remember when they used to do that?) and diagnosed it. Until then no-one I mentioned it to had ever heard of it.

About a year later I got Scarletina (mild scarlet fever) too. Also almost certainly from one of the little darlings.

It's par for the course, aunty.
Just apply some tepid moist towels to keep the severest temperatures down. Not too wet and not too many and just to take the edge off the highest temps, and rest a lot, take a little paracetamol and don't use loads of blankets and quilts, the heat needs to escape.

Hopefully they'll all be right as rain in a few days.

Yeah, but seven to ten days looks like the norm, and those mouth ulcers look hideous.

What a ridiculous disease to affect specifically three areas, though I just read that it could crop up elsewhere too.

Also it looks like it's worse for adults. The mouth ulcers look horrendous!

I wonder if eating such as ice cream would help to sooth things down! Well it would be a good excuse to pig out on ice cream.....Laugh
