My great Grandfather is buried in the Marlow Road cemetery in East Ham, all the Newham Jewish cemeteries are now officially closed though they are still open for visiting, paying respects etc, in 2011 census the Jewish population of Newham was 0.1% I would say that is now a tad optimistic.

I used to go to the working mans club in newham in that article.
We went on match days and had a drink and played cards. Then we went to the west ham game. I loved being on the terraces watching the game, listening to the banter, and joining in, and of course the singing of 'bubbles'. Then after we went for pie and mash. In a long life I can honestly say that those days rank among my favourites. |
