I blame the "savage cuts" in the NHS.

Absolutely, he sounds like Ed Miliband with a Scotch accent.
He must be sucking a gobstopper while he's speaking. |

I have to put the sub titles on in order to follow the plot.

He's just not a very good actor, at least he isn't in Dr Who. He regularly gets shown up by the other actors in a scene, to the point wher it is often an embarrassing difference in quality.

Two issues.
1) Writing. Steven Moffat's writing is too convoluted and self-indulgent. Makes for uninteresting/unlikable characters, hard-to-follow plots and the viewer not caring about the outcome. 2) Acting. Capaldi is not a good actor. He's a hack, a comedy actor and painfully obviously overacting. Tennant, Eccleston (and even Matt Smith, though I disliked his episodes too) had proper acting chops. PC pales in comparison. |

or...its just a silly kids programme and adults commenting on it is a bit sad.

I just realised if Ronnie Pickering had been Dr Ronnie Pickering, that clip could have been every more funny :)

If his car then started making that familiar sound and disappeared before the startled bikers eyes it certainly would have been. Only topped if he then turned round and a sonic screwdriver was sticking out of his arse.

I haven't watched Dr Who for many a year and have never seen the present incumbent but Torquemada's: "I now find myself rooting for the daleks."
Really must qualify for post of the week! |

Love the guy (Peter Capaldi)
...ever since I saw him in "The Thick of It". Give him a chance - he could be the best Doctor ever ! |
|
By:
Capaldi is a sensational actor but unfortunately even Marlon Brando would struggle in the joke of a programme that is Dr Who.
Watch 'the thick of it' if you want to see him in his best role. |
|
By:
He's great in The Thick of It. But the The Thick of It is a comedy show where deliberate overacting is to be encouraged. It jars in "serious" (if you can call Dr Who that) programmes.
|
|
By:
If you're saying that some of the Dr.Who plots/programmes are rubbish - I wouldn't disagree..

As someone who grew up watching the programme in the so called golden age my opinion is that all of the Dr's and production values since its return have been infinitely better. Nostalgia is a ball acher. Capaldi is perfectly good enough even if some of the earlier scripts since its return were superior. It's still often one of the best and most intelligent things we produce.

Of course Sherlock is better.

In the Thick of It...made for Capaldi...brilliant
Although I regretted the loss of Chris Langham Did not think he did not do anything that bad Sacrificed to the modern vindictiveness of women I feel |

Capaldi would have fitted in easily during the classic series. The problem now is since the relaunch, we've become used to actors who can actually act. |
|
By:
The problem with Capaldi's acting is his voice.
He hasn't got an attractive voice it's muffled, and there's little he can do about that. |
|
By:
he has a Glaswegian dalek
