I always thought the solar midday was 12 in summer and shifts in the winter, not so, it's more like 1pm in the summer and then midday in winter.

I would advise anyone to put your clocks forward a couple of days in advance to avoid the rush.

I hope my clocks will do it automatically in this day and age.

Should stick with BST all year round. Even better, use BST in the winter and go forward another hour during the summer. Still being light at 11pm would be superb for summer parties.
