My nightclub days are long gone, most of the clubs are on Prince Of Wales Road, but yes they're all teenage hell holes with violence common and what seems increasing amount of attacks on women. I'd highly reccommend the Riverbank all you can eat Chinese at riverside, there's all the other 'popular' eateries there too, Odeon IMAX and The Queen of Iceni (weatherspoons) which ain't actually too bad. Chicago down prince of wales(pronounced Shucargooos by the locals) is famed for being full of over 30s on the pull. That said I would still class it as a sh!t hole. 80s and 90s nights at the Waterfront were usually full of older clubbers as opposed to Mercy etc. Being close to a residential area the owners preferred it that way as underage drinking/any aggro would put their licence in jeopardy.

Ta. Just wanted to find somewhere that might play some indie , grunge , rock , anything but teeny bop carp from the last 15 years. Any decent live music venues round there ?

The brickmakers isn't in the city centre. It is however a rock venue pub with a live act most nights and often free. Otherwise its a case of checking out what's on at The Waterfront or The Norwich Arts Centre (annual winner of the NME best small live venue in the East, although I imagine competition is scarce).

Norwich arts centre actually won the UK's best small venue in NME and it is a fab venue. Well worth a visit.

I wasn't knocking the NAC, been there many a time, more recently for comedy events where many names do a £10 1 hour turn before a full tour to test new material. Although I did see the Manic Street Preachers there in 1991 for £2!
