He was desperate to come to the UK, fought to be allowed to come, and so settles in happily and gets a job working in a café. At lunchtime he decides to call his mum and report back to her all about his first morning at work. After he has told her everything, he asks how her and the rest of his family are getting on.
"It's terrible she says. The house has been burned down, there are savages roaming the streets raping, pillaging and smashing everything to pieces, your sister has been sexually assaulted, your father shot, your brother brutally beaten. And it's all your fault".
"Why?" says the man, heartbroken.
His mother replies "Because we never wanted to come to Glasgow in the first place".
