They like their guns in America.

Mind you I expect the police take a lot out.
Saves the expense of a trial.

I have no idea about the gun deaths, but I never fail to be shocked and amazed by the huge number (600/700k) of war dead in the American Civil War, particularly relative to the population. I think I read that this war had the greatest % of deaths to combatants of any war in history. Anyone know if this is true?

I know it sounds a bit Macabre but around 40 years ago I collected cards of The American Civil War most very violent pictures of the fighting between the two sides, must look that up as they would be collectors items now not that I still have any.

Less than two per state.
Report mecca October 6, 2015 5:24 AM BST
Obama would love to radically change the US gun laws.

Americans greatly distrust the government (I wonder why that is) and would never give up their right to bear arms. This could end up in chaos..... or a police state
Report polybot October 6, 2015 10:07 AM BST
Only 2 gun suicides per state per day? Sounds distinctly average.

however the state of california has just legalised euthanasia by doctor, if the method used is bullet through back of head (the prefered soviet method) rather than some messy intravenous job, then these numbers could rise exponentially Shocked

about two thirds of those gun deaths were suicide!
Report CLYDEBANK29 October 7, 2015 1:40 PM BST
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2013, firearms (excluding BB and pellet guns) were used in 84,258 nonfatal injuries (26.65 per 100,000 U.S. citizens) [2] and 11,208 deaths by homicide (3.5 per 100,000),[3] 21,175 by suicide with a firearm,[4] 505 deaths due to accidental discharge of a firearm,[4] and 281 deaths due to firearms-use with "undetermined intent"[5] for a total of 33,169 deaths related to firearms (excluding firearm deaths due to legal intervention).

Assuming you live to 80, that's a 0.28% chance of being the victim of a homicide and a 0.5% chance of shooting yourself!  Overall, nearly a 3% chance of being killed or wounded by a gun!  That is staggering.

another stagerring statistic since obama has been in power - and this is no indictment on Obama just a time frame there have been 944 mass (i.e more than one) shootings ... i still think the 1.4 million form the op is on the high side ..

The Fox news thing is simply corporate sponsored murder .. capitalism has no concern at all for corporate misery .. i was bizzarely wishing the dumb blonde instead of being sex on legs was seen helping her mother  / boyfriend after taking a bullet .. her opinion would change immediately

A hideous disgusting nation that rules our planet and is really a force for evil.

if we get Putin and Trump WW3 is very close.
Report blackbarn October 8, 2015 12:28 AM BST
minardi - If I understand what you are guessing, the number is 994 mass shootings (in the last 1004 days) which resulted in 1260 deaths; The minimum for "mass" shootings is 4 or more in one incident not "ie more than one). Hope this helps.

Laugh no, of course not, he just works there mate. we would not want to criticise dear leader.

The Fox news thing is simply corporate sponsored murder
from what i saw they were saying they thought that if someone else had a gun the shooter may have been stopped sooner, the point that almost all these shootingsa re deliberately staged in gun free zones is actually true

i was bizzarely wishing the dumb blonde instead of being sex on legs was seen helping her mother  / boyfriend after taking a bullet

would you also, hypothetically speaking, have executed just the christians?

if we get Putin and Trump WW3 is very close
er, we already have putin, and we already have 2 de facto wars, and clearly a revived cold war, the russians are currently bombing what's left of those poor sods who signed up to the failed 500 million dollar us insurgency in syria.

My sister and brother in law live in Durango, Colorado.
Unbelievably people sleep with doors and windows open, and even go abroad for two weeks and leave their doors unlocked.

Last year a drunk woman wandered into the house and fell asleep, thinking she was in her own home.
They phoned the police who turned up in 5 minutes, the first question they asked was "Why didn't you shoot her?".
After ascertaining that they didn't have a gun in the house, the police suggested that theirs was the only house they knew of in town that didn't have at least one gun.

Says it all.
