Seconded.

It's Nile, not Mile.

I liked the band Chic.

Great tale about how 'Freak Out' was written.

This is 1970s, Tommy. It's carp! Wink
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 1:01 AM BST
This is the 1980s kenny!
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 1:02 AM BST
I'm not saying all of the music in the '70s was cr@p - just 90% of it!
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 1:03 AM BST
And yes, they've just said it was 1979 - before you pull me up about it!
Report bodil September 26, 2015 1:07 AM BST
95% of everything is crap/disposable.  Nearly 100% of music today.  I remember going up to DJs in nightclubs in the late 1970s and trying to convince them to play something else.  What a misguided w*nker I was - it was all about what the women wanted.  And that wasn't Steely Dan (well, they would have wanted the original Steely Dan IV, of course).

I'll go to bed when we reach 1985. Some decent stuff until then, before it went pear shaped (with the odd exception)
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 1:17 AM BST
If you only live in the past you're wasting your life kenny.
Report kenny mann September 26, 2015 1:20 AM BST
I'm referring to chart stuff, Tommy.

There are good bands out there, and I see them quite frequently.
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 1:25 AM BST
I never, ever get tired of hearing 'Get Lucky'.
Brilliant song.
Report bodil September 26, 2015 1:30 AM BST
For some (fear-of-approaching-death) reason, I went through the annual top 100 list since the mid-50s.  Scientifically we give up on new music around the age of 37, apparently.  I knew I kept going for longer and stronger.  But, damn me, black street music has sh+t upon the charts for longer than I care to think about.  And most of it is forgettable crap.  It's all about p+ssing off your parents.  Minimal musical merit.  There is lots of good new stuff but it has to fight for a hearing.
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 1:35 AM BST
I'd love to buy Nile Rodgers a drink.
A lovely, smiley, fun, proper bloke - with a great attitude to life.
Report kenny mann September 26, 2015 1:35 AM BST
Not far out with 37, bodil. In 1985 referred to above, I was 36.

See how many of these you can remember. I recall them all! No kidding.

This programme now on BBC4 is good: 'The Joy Of Disco'.
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 2:32 AM BST
Hot Chocolate at the BBC on now.
Report bodil September 26, 2015 2:37 AM BST
'It started with a kiss' would make my all-time top 20.  Oh Karen, where are you now?
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 2:41 AM BST
They were a great band, Bodil.
So many 'classic' songs that will stand the test of time.

I recall, I knew a bloke in the late 70s who went to Birmingham University and they did a gig there. By some happenstance my mate ended up having a drink with Errol Brown and co after the gig  - and he said what a great bunch of down to earth blokes they were.

Goodnight gentlemen.  England v Wales tomorrow.  Something to look forward to at last.  Blood and guts.  Years taken off future life-spans.
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 2:48 AM BST
Goodnight Bodil.

Can't stand bleedin' rugby! Good luck to England though.

Nice to read on the bits of info on screen in this programme that Errol wrote 'You Sexy Thing' about his soon-to-be wife.
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 3:31 AM BST
I enjoyed that very much.

RIP Errol.
Report Joel September 26, 2015 3:34 AM BST
Errol Flynn?
Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 3:39 AM BST
hehehe! Errol Brown. Hot Chocolate singer.

He lived a cracking life, really enjoying his success - had racehorses and all sorts of stuff.

He died just a few months ago.
Seemed like a great bloke.
Report Joel September 26, 2015 3:41 AM BST

Report Tommy Toes September 26, 2015 3:42 AM BST
