Had a problem last week,needed to call prudential insurance followed by hmrc,was waiting on phone together over 1h 20m,calls cost over £20,its a scandal.

I had this problem, on about the 6th time of calling it was answered straight away. Don't think there's a lot of point in hanging on for ages.
They should do what Plus net do and show a graph on their website of call volumes so you can see the best time to call.

A few years back you didnt even have the option to wait; just got "we are very busy, goodbye"
Last time got the fkn automated menu , press 3 or 4 options and finally it reads out a number and tells you to redial for the correct department .Redial and back in the same options
