As if any further evidence was needed to prove that the world has gone completely mad.

So far in 2015 they've beheaded approximately one person every two days for offences including
witchcraft, sorcery, heresy & apostasy. They love public flogging and arguably have the worst record
in the world when it comes to religious freedom and women’s rights.

They were the obvious choice I suppose.

About to crucify a minor for demanding democracy. Nice crowd.

They are hosting a convention rather than heading it. Maybe it's been done to embarrass them.
Bad enough the courts giving out the barbaric sentences such as getting a limb or limbs chopped off, lashings (up to 1000) and hangings but the crowds that turn up to witness them turns my stomach.
Never progressed since the dark ages.

if there were no telly believe me we would do it here akabula

we used to, we would it again
Report akabula September 20, 2015 11:07 PM BST
Not something I'd want to witness ebul.
I know in America they have 'viewing rooms' for executions. That strikes me as barbaric as well.
Report ebulGery September 20, 2015 11:27 PM BST
I agree with you there akabula, I think it degrades us

But the fact that it occurs in a Moslem society and the so called bastion of free democracy the US

tells me it is confined to Moslems is it....?

If somebody murdered someone close to me I may demand their life, on the life for a life basis

But I would not watch it or take sadistic pleasure from it, and I would expect it to be done quickly and cleanly

that is my own view

As far as Saudi Arabia, it is their country, their laws, which I think we should respect

I would not get too hypocritical about it either, since the West has supported Saudi Arabia

I certainly think we can protest some punishments and try to persuade them to be a bit more lenient

But it has to be said people live a peaceful life in Saudi Arabia, that can not be said for other countries in the M.East
where appalling things are going on, why do we think we have refugees?

I blame the West for this, because of our unwarranted intrusion in the M.East since circa 1990, please let us not do this to Saudi Arabia.
In general people prefer to be alive rather than dead, even if everything is not perfect in their societies
I admit Saudi Arabia is not perfect.

just my own opinion

So when other country's do atrocities your respect them also because at the end of the day its their country & their laws isn't it  Crazy
Report ebulGery September 21, 2015 12:20 AM BST
What you regard as atrocities, they may not, especially if it is their law.

Most atrocities occur in the M.East because there is no law, the place is in chaos

I do not approve of all these punishments in S.Arabia, but neither do I want to see yet another bloodbath
and if you push them, they will push back, human nature.

Persuasion and patience is the answer I believe

ebul - assume you must be on the Saudi payroll/unaware.  They are one of the most corrosive countries in the world.  But money talks, and vast quantities of money talk loudest.  A sane US would have taken them out after 9/11 (and left the rest alone).
Report ebulGery September 21, 2015 12:34 AM BST
You think yet more war is the answer Bodil??????????????

A sane US, that would be a treat

You mention the power of money, have a guess, who has got most of that, a clue for you
Report bodil September 21, 2015 12:50 AM BST
Actually turning the main Saudi population centres into smoking craters would probably be a positive move for the human race.  Thanks to Wahabbism, the world is a far more dangerous place.
Report ebulGery September 21, 2015 1:01 AM BST
I do not believe that, unless they have the weapons to back it up, which they don't

If you think turning anywhere into smoking craters is the answer, well sadly one day that is all will be left of us,
the human race, unless we recognise the barbarity in all of us
Report ebulGery September 21, 2015 1:04 AM BST
The problem in the M.East is insolvable

So all this killing is not serving any purpose, unless you happen to be an undertaker or a prosthetic limb maker

So the best idea would be to have peace, since we are gaining nothing by war
Report bodil September 21, 2015 1:17 AM BST
No - Saudi Arabia and its intolerant brand of Islam is part of the problem.  And to be honest, killing is sometimes a solution.  Where are the priests of Baal?  Or his temples, for that matter. Or Mithras?

The U.N .is a corrupt organisation  followed  by the E.U..

Their corruption would make the corruption in F.I.F.A. seem like a tea party.

Airline pilot to passengers on approach to Jeddah.... welcome to Saudi Arabia everyone. If you wish to adjust your watches you should set them back 600 years.
Report ebulGery September 21, 2015 7:29 PM BST
The U.N. is not corrupt

It is not our country, it does not matter to us at all, who cares

It is the way they want it
