"Father And Son"

Father
It's not time to make a change,
Just relax, take it easy.
You're still young, that's your fault,
There's so much you have to know.
Find a girl, settle down,
If you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy.

I was once like you are now, and I know that it's not easy,
To be calm when you've found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything you've got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.

Son
How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again.
It's always been the same, same old story.
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen.
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

Father
It's not time to make a change,
Just sit down, take it slowly.
You're still young, that's your fault,
There's so much you have to go through.
Find a girl, settle down,
if you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy.

Son
All the times that I cried, keeping all the things I knew inside,
It's hard, but it's harder to ignore it.
If they were right, I'd agree, but it's them you know not me.
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

Productivity stopped when he became muslim. HE also supported the fatwah against Salman Rushdie.

Have three superb CDs in the car....

"Tea For The Tillerman" & "Teaser and The Firecat", both bought by eldest daughter, to replace those on 8 track
and the bonus of "Roadsinger".

Never tire of listening to them....Love

Not to be trusted. should have been banned for his support for the fatwah.

His statements on Rushdie were a foretaste of what was to come from groups like al quaeda, has he condemned the killing on the streets  of theo van goth and other artists eg.

There are no songs about Van Gogh being stabbed to death on the streets of Amsterdam, did Charles Manson do anything worse?

He was going to put that out as a single but when he heard the P.P.Arnold version, he said that was so good it should be the definitive version. He did record it himself but only put it out on a LP track. Rod Stewart did record it as well later on but can't beat P.P.Arnold singing that song.

Father and Son a great song which I agree does make more sense as you get older, he was a brilliant singer/songwriter.
