Not a happy bunny, my big son aged 18 has got his 17 year old girlfriend pregnant. Hes just started a rubbish sales job which wont last long and she is gonna drop out of college. They are also living with her parents. Not a good situation all round but whats done is done ffs.

I became one at 45, thanks to my then 20 year old son.
And yes, my granddaughter is the apple of my eye.

I can't say that I was, at the time, thrilled by the prospect, but it is probably one of the best things that has happened to me.

Every day, I try and be a better grandparent than my my own were.

My daughter is 22 and im dreading the day but as you say i will love the grandchild once its born.

My parents are crazy about mine and my brothers kids, they take them on holidays, weekends away and buy them stuff all the time, perfect grandparents apart from i never got looked after so well Whoops

Totally different relationship that i had with my grandparents, i guess its mainly down to cash.

Also age difference.  And health.

My grandparents were old.  One grandfather dead, one grandma senile dementia from as early as I can remember.

Other set were retired.  Both died or dementia before I was 20.

As relatively young grandparents, we do a lot with our grandchildren.  Sure cash has something to do with it, but mainly time and the fact we are young enough to to fun things with them.

I will be 38 tomorrow, so thats quite young to be a grandparent, my Mrs  is only 25. My sons mother is 36 and pregnant herself, and hers is due before our sons is. Like ive said in the op whats done is done but preventative measures should have been taken.

ur Spot on Jack this mob having kids late 30s early 40s need their heads examined imo ,kids will in most cases have no grand parents come their teens ,at least you can have a life with your grand children ,not to mention the help having grand parents around is when bringing up children ...
