I have lost the serial number for my Microsoft works on my laptop. I want to transfer it to a new laptop how can I go about it, is there a way to find it on the old laptop?

If you click on start then right click on computer, then select properties, you may find the product ID. This is not the number you need to install the software on the new laptop though. It should be on one of the installation disk cases. Another copy of Microsoft works would be very cheap on ebay. An alternative, is to install one of the free office software programs like Open Office or Libre Office. These have word, excel and database equivalent programs to Microsoft products (albeit with less functionality) and would almost certainly fit your needs.
