I think my girlfriend is an alcoholic. She absolutely loves wine, but gets completely pissed after 1 bottle. This is the scenario. 1 large glass (275 ml) she is absolutely fine 2 large glasses and she loves me, and everybody else 3 large glasses and she starts talking complete gibberish to anybody that will listen, which is usually the most boring person in the pub. 4 large glasses and the swearing starts. At this point, I should mention that I own a pub, so this, if I allowed it to be, would be a nightly occurrence. So, after the fourth glass, I tell her that if she continues to swear, I shall refuse to serve her anymore. 5 large glasses, and I am a knob head, and the rest of the pub are finding her hilarious. 6 large glasses, I am refusing to serve her anymore, so she staggers off bouncing of the walls as she goes.
To combat this regular occurrence, I have banned her from drinking anywhere other than in the pub, and she is not allowed a drink in the pub before 9.00 PM on Monday to Thursdays. These rules are broken by her at least once a week. She claims she is not an alcoholic, because she doesn't want a drink when she wakes up in the morning. On the plus side, she is a very loving and caring person, never argues back at me when I am calling her a dipsomaniac, and she does all my washing and ironing.

Trilby, you seem a little bit obsessed with this subject. Sometimes life with drink is terrible but the fear of life without booze is greater, is this you? Exactly 10 years ago I was drinking 6 litres of vodka a week, I was fat miserable and living back with my parents. I had no girlfriend, no money and I was hanging onto my job by my fingernails. I couldnt see anyway out but believe it not, I thought that giving up the booze would make me feel miserable and bored!!! I have now been sober over 9 years, I have a very good life, attractive wife, own house and life is fun. If I knew sobreity was this good then I would have never touched Blue Smirnoff.

David FMS.. I've Just got back from my local racecourse, Chelmsford City. I bumped into STUDYFORMS Brother there. Not seen him since the last Poker Tournament I organised at my Pub. If you are local, pop in for a drink. I don't intend being here much longer.

Drinking my home brewed Guinness clone. It's really rather good. I could do with it being chilled though. I'm serving from a corny keg which it too big to fit in my fridge!
Playing some freeroll poker. Not gonna risk any of my own cash tonight.

Ive always taken something, but not all the time. If its not drink then its drugs and each have its own period. My parents have always been responsible, my father was a methodist but I was sniffing glue at 8 so you cant really live a straight life after than just manage it as well as possible.

I found glue too sickly! Preferred carpet cleaner, tipex thinner or gas, till a mate died then knocked it all on the head plus I was knacking up my jackets (cuffs) Thank God I knew myself well enough to avoid serious drugs.........wouldnt be here today I reckon

I had mates dies of differing substances under differing conditions. To say you carry on regardless is the classic talk of a true addict when they find reason why they themselves will evade death.
It was and is different with me regarding consumption. Ive respected everything I have ever taken. Thats not to say it cant kill, but you get to know the ropes....the wrong way (through experience)
