I work for a company with around about 600 members of staff. I seem to get charity emails all the time, you know the ones I'm doing some run or other. Now if it isn't a charity email it's someone is leaving after being at the company what seems 5 mins. I know emails are easy to ignore but when people start coming to you personally how is the nicest way to say no?.
Pick a charity that means something to you - make a regular donation, then you can tell people that you make regular donations to that specific charity only.

tell them you've already pledged to a friend/relative doing the same event.
If they come back after the event and challenge you, tell them you are doing a sponsored lie-athon ... for charity, of course.

Thanks for the advice, I do like yours Thin and Crispy. Today a guy has come around dressed in his marathon outfit with a bucket!, 10 mins later a collection for a wedding. The collections that happen in this place is incredible.
