Quite the opposite Zazu. I think people blog to give something back to the community they blog about. I've certainly learned a load from other people and I don't mind giving something back.
There's a blogging tool on here. Yorky Puds blog on the poker forum is a decent read with some good tips. People blog for a variety of reasons, I blog as I find it a decent learning tool and something to look back on. I've blogged in the past on Pokerschoolonline but I rarely play on Stars an as it's a Stars based site, you can't blog about other networks so I've given up. Some of my biggest successes have come when I've been blogging so I think it's a great way to write down your feelings and fix mistakes. As it's read by other people you don't want to look foolish. I'm currently blogging about my Home Brewing exploits, it's in a thread form but I'm using it to keep a record of my successes and failures as I strive for that perfect pint: http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=54221 |

I used to blog about playing low stakes poker. I got a few positive comments, but don't know if they were being sarcastic or nice for the sake of it. I'd have preferred brutally honest comments but people are scared to criticise others, even constructively. My gut feeling is, they were being too nice.
I gave it up because I ran out of stuff to rant about. But, I did win a 500+ runner £2 mtt on crypto once and no one can ever take that away from me. |

I started blogging on Betfair, typed a long message and it was removed by mods with no reason so I'm launching
www.freerollhq.co.uk I'm aiming to turn zero into £1,000 by the end of 2016 making withrawals along the way for certain software and perks. I started on 1/1/16, playing freerolls only. I'm now at $30 but the hardest part is over, getting that initial balance. Any links on my site are affiliated to me BTW, I'll be honest. Dragons Den indeed Chaser. |

I always felt i needed to communicate with others more but was always too busy playing , just ended up listening to everybody else living it up with Ladyboys , Motorbikes & Baller Graphs in Thailand instead
Gambling is a very closed world i find , makes me sad at times Video is all the rage now who really needs to blog ![]() |

Yes, thinking of Periscope not Twitch as Twitch seems reg filled.
I don't want to compete with the likes of Jamie Staples who has a better understanding of the game and not really the market I want to target. I've a brash NI accent that is hard to understand but I am seriously considering vlogging. |

If people are interested they will watch
Personally i always doubted Staples , feel he uses his subscribers like kids but he's done well enough at the game now , we'll see! Have you listened to Joeys podcasts on youtube ![]() |

I listen to at least 20 podcasts a week on a variety of subjects but not ?Joey Ingram? that you refer to.
Carrot Poker Grinder School Just Hands Mid Stakes living (thanks to you, no longer active though) Pokercast Tournament Poker Edge (sporadic) Thinking Poker Top Pair Under the Gun Weekly Poker Hand Because Staples is so basic he's getting new players into the game. That's what's needed and what I intend. You don't need to be the best to win at the game, just make less mistakes than your opponents. (I should trademark that quote) |

Steeplechasing is a good blog about horse racing and betting.
I think the author is originally from your neck of the woods chaser. |

Yeah i know he's a bit of a c0ck but i liked some of his podcasts with the top players , opens your mind a bit to the poker world & how high stakes players think in general , the likes of staking etc .
some are quite interesting in general but prob more of a joke show now , used to kill an hour while playing! |

MrM/Ovalman Is it only holdem you play? You try any other games.
I took a sickener to holdem (couldn't get over bad beats/variance). Missed playing so looked to other games and am now hooked on Razz. |
|
By:
but you'll learn more listening to players speak more generally about life & stuff with a bit of banter instead of how they played top set , top kicker ..
amazing how many poker pro's are winning tons playing that Dratfstars sports insted |

OK I'm affiliating myself but I think there's a gap in the market for freeroll and micro stakes players. Especially as I know I've friends that play Facebook muck for free. I'm encouraging them to play real money whether they deposit or not.
I think there's a vast difference between the freeroll player and high stakes but they are so similar. 2 sides of the same coin. I've played both and find freerolls so basic but yet difficult to fight through. High stakes is so intricate but can be basic at times. It's such a deceptive game. |
|
By:
they might seem the same but there's an incredible amount of difference , most people just can't deal with i for any decent amount of money involved , the money's the reason most people lose , they'd obviously all be amazing players , otherwise

akabula, if you lose long term then the only person to blame is you.
If you've fundamental flaws then even if you play Razz you might be making the same mistakes. The problem is discovering those flaws. I know I make a load of mistakes but the key to me winning is making less mistakes. |

Yes I agree McMoon, I'm a loser at €20 and €40 on I=Poker but smallish sample

I've honestly never played freerolls or play money in my life
I have over 1million Vpps on stars since 2007 & still got my original 1,000 play points untouched ![]() |

Your not my target McMoon :)
I'm OK at the game, I know what I'm good at and I know what works an why my blog exists. |

akabula, if you lose long term then the only person to blame is you I was up about £7k in that account Ovalman (about a years play)but just hit a brickwall when nothing was going for me. Wasn't losing as such but nothing was standing up for me. Just got sickened as I said and didn't want to play. Why are you assuming I'm losing at Razz? I find it a much easier game to play. |
|
By:
If your making money at a game then why complain?
I think you've constantly got to analyse, keep tabs on how your doing and evaluate at every chance. |
|
By:
The game has certainly changed. My bad run, and it was really bad, I think altered my way of playing. Lost confidence.
