it seems that the western powers can't exercise full force against IS because we shouldn't interfere in world affairs as far as they are concerned.

Now there is a catastrophe happening causing refugees to flee war-torn areas for the relative safety of Europe.

Is the West's lack of licence to go in and sort out IS with full force due to the namby pamby lefties' unwillingness to engage for fear of accusations of imperialism responsible for this?

Dunno about Syria, but the only coont who could have any control over these stone age rag headed fkwits was Saddam Hussein.  Tony Blair, in his infinite wisdom, got rid of him and all hell broke loose.  Tony Blair's fault and the people that voted for him imo.

No it's because they were sent packing with their tails between their legs from Afghanstan and Iraq so when it came to the Syria vote the inevitable happened, they finally clocked on that you can't win wars in the Middle East, even the Russian's learnt that, only stupid people want to repeat the same mistakes over and over and plough in more ground troops bringing home more dead soldiers having achieved next to nothing and receiving little home support for their efforts, stupid people like John Kerry.

Its not a refugee crisis its a migrant crisis.

The ones in Turkey are already in a safe country, they become migrants when they want to pick and choose where they go.
The ones in Hungary want to circumvent the rules, they are demanding to get into Germany.

What the compassionate ones don't realise is these people are Members of the religion of peace, they will cause untold trouble in the future.

OP not far off, some ignorant and cowardly responses though.

The war in Syria has caused over 2 million refugees to flee, over 250,000 syrians have died. They are not migrating for career opportunities, they are fleing a destroyed and lawless wreck. It's probable terrorist groups will take advantage of this.

Afghanisthan and Iraq were by all metrics successful as at 2009, US casualties had dropped below the accident rate, al quaeda had been pushed out by the angbar tribes, democracy was in its infancy but functional, gaddafi and other local dictators were moderating their policy and then...

obama announces full retreat and surrender, supports Erdogan and the muslim brotherhood in egypt while throwing mubarek under the bus, declaring the "arab spring" while ignoring the mullahs slaughtering the iranian uprising, then killing gaddafi and rubbleising libya, all while sitting on his hands while ISIS sweeps through destroying communities and civilisations that have stood for thousands of years.
and the coont somehow managed to play 250 rounds of golf and have over 400 political party fundraisers.

The world is not capable of taking IS seriously due to political misgivings about further intervention in that region.

With respect we are where we are and have to deal with the current situation. Apportioning blame for why we are here might be therapeutic to some people but doesn't go to solving this catastrophe.
