I'm now in my sixties ...started my working life in the Aircraft Industry, then Electronics then Oil/Gas/Energy.... now I remember working for "Ultra Electronics" I was about 19 at the time working as an Electronics Technician .
An Engineer came up to me and carefully handed me an "Integrated Circuit" and said ...be careful with this it cost £70 (average mans working wage at that time was about £ 20 per week) ... it's got 5 transistors in it !
I bought an 8 Gig USB stick the other day ...out of interest I googled it just to see how many transistors it contained.
Answer ...billions and I think I paid just a couple of quid for it - is that progress or what !

That's ok if you're in town, but if you're out in the country you're fooked - no shop doorways for miles. Incidentally, a couple of days ago I was in Wales and called at a little village on my way out of Wales (back home) and stopped at local WC. Went to go in and automatic door wanted 20p to enter. I saved 20p. |

I also remebemr ...they were trying to design some kind of computer system and using a "golf ball" typewriter as the printer.
Boy was I at the cutting edge....  Bill Gates eat your heart out ! |
