IG is very good. I recently re-opened an old account I have not used for years with city index. After the painful process I find the platform is poor. I think that they and Fin Spreads are owned by the same company, which would tie in with your comments.

These times are too volatile for my liking, so I'm sitting on the fence for now. I also don't like the idea of getting **cked by central bank policies, so am unsure whether to get involved or not right now. It can be useful for hedging. e.g. You think the market is going down, but don't really want to sell certain shares. You sell the share on the spread and cover potential losses (& gains!).

Do City/fin spreads even quote the same spreads for individual UK shares as IG? On IG, you'd get a Sep15, Dec15 and Mar16 spreads for shares, I could not find the 3 markets on City.

It's just that I had an account with Financial Spreads and it's much easier just to trade with them rather than going through all the rigmarole of opening up a new account

Most are crooks ...they're "market makers" and will trade against you! There is a website which gives feedback on punters experiences - very illuminating! I had CFD trading account with CMC ..urghhhhhh
