Instead of pill popping, I'd look at why you're getting indigestion  in the first place. Prevention  better than cure etc.

There's a belief that heartburn and acid reflux are actually caused by too little stomach acid rather than too much stomach acid. This belief is supported by the fact that the incidence of heartburn and reflux increase as you get older and the production of stomach acid decreases as you get older.

The products purchased while extremely good for the companies and organisations that produce them are counterproductive in trying to increase your stomach acid but the good news is you'll keep using them again and again which is good for the profit margin.

There is a basic test that can indicate if you have too little stomach acid and it is as follows:

"1 Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 4-6 ounces of cold water first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything.
2 Drink the baking soda solution.
3 Time how long it takes you to belch. Time up to five minutes.

If you have not belched within five minutes stop timing.

In theory, if your stomach is producing adequate amounts of stomach acid you’ll likely belch within two to three minutes. Early and repeated belching may be due to excessive stomach acid (but don’t confuse these burps with small little burps from swallowing air when drinking the solution). Any belching after 3 minutes indicates a low acid level."

Omeprazole (Losec).
You have to get them prescribed, yet when I last went to Spain they were available in any chemists for about £3 for a little bottle (25?) over the counter.

It's a proton pump inhibitor and reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach and is brilliant. Better than ridiculously priced Ranetidine (Omeprozole's forerunner) which you can get at the supermarket.

Just take 1 a day and don't take any other antacids at the same time.
If you have some reflux or heartburn, as a reactive they won't work instantly (it'll take an hour or so), they'll stop you getting it in the first place.

Omeprazole - Sold over the counter in most East European chemist`s, they do the job.

You should check with a GP before taking them.

Your problem is more likely to be what you eat than how much. Drink can be dodgy too. If you are a beer drinker try the brews that are less gassy.

Diet is obviously important but taking regular aspirin has caused me problems, used to take bisodol tablets like sweets until I cut out the aspirin and surprisingly had much less problems, curry and all ?

Aspirin should ALWAYS be taken with food. Regular Aspirin (1 a day) should be 75mg only.
It's a brilliant thing is aspirin, but rough on the stomach.
