Justin Gatlin to beat Bolt @ 2.88 in the 200m

Bolts able to maintain top speed too easily.

For me Gatlin's best chance was the 100m. If he couldn't beat Bolt in that I'm not having it that he can beat him over 200m.

I had Bolt down to beat Gatlin at generous odds, now I think these are generous odds, if Gatlin had of had a decent finish to his 100m race where Bolt was going flat out but only one by a split second, he could have won, but stumbled. Carried his form into the 200 and Bolt still does not look at his best.

Of course if I werent having a bet, I'd want the clean runner to win.

Which one is that then ?

Bolt is a far superior 200m runner to 100m


Gatlin has to have a blinder AND bolt have a off ish day in order to win

I'm not so sure - I think both your points are valid, but I saw signs of Bolt not being at his best, obviously in the 100m where he's run two yards slower than his PB, but particularly yesterday in the 200m semi-finals where he looked tight in the upper body and far from his best.

I said on the other thread that I fancied Bolt to beat Gatlin in the 100m, but having seen how they have taken the week's racing on the evidence of yesterday, I fancy Gatlin will beat him today.

Looking forward to it though, and the women's 400m final and Dina Asher-Smith in the 200m, think she can dip under 22 secs in this event.

Bolt was rubbish in the 100m semis but much better in the final and no doubt the same will happen in the 200m final
Gatlins only hope is that the local pharmacy was open this morning

Like the 100m Bolt will need to run better and Gatlin a lot worse in order for Bolt to win.

Bolt must be better at the 200 since he always starts so slowly.

She is amazing. 19 ffs. How good could she become? Got it all on to beat Schippers and the Jamaican woman, but wouldn't rule it out.

Jed, bolt jogged his semi and still went sub 20

Flat out on this track can run 19.5s all day whereas thats Gatlins pb

The man is extraordinary - sometimes it's nice to be wrong. Unbelievable. Feel a bit silly for doubting him.

Steadi-cam guy on the 2 wheel gizmo touched small barrier , lost control, felled Bolt and crashed to ground....could have damaged his tendons.

Re-wound it.
