I know how you feel Huggy..i had the first 5 at York on Friday, had 3 in the last for £5 and still couldn't get one in the first 4,of course it finished 5th......I couldn't face seeing how much it paid but i know it was plenty.

its a cruel bet sure enough but since you guys got to the last race couldnt you lay something on the place markets to get a good return?
By:
Yeah i know that but i thought i was a cert to collect.

As BB says, better to go out in the last leg, at least you can lay it for a return.

Used to have a lot of fun with the hills shops would have perms on 50,000 bets on the Saturday night meetings at wolves a bet they would never take so would just put number of bets as 10,000 on the slip to a penny which you could cover the card. You'd then get 3x3 through the card and even though understaked you'd still be getting a 5th of yiour penny so would be settled to £1.40 sometimes the settlers wouldn't even check the bets and you'd get the full £7.29,took them 2/3 years till they clicked!

large perms had to be referred even to small stakes

By:
I DONT APPROVE OF LARGE PERMS AND MINI SKIRTS IN THE WORKPLACE
By:
Very rare to get checked and the staff were clueless,i knew most of the managers anyway they wouldn't bother phoning through £100 stake in early days, only when I had a massive hit after 3 year they changed the syakes to 10 pences so made impossible to get huge perms on.
By:
limit on total stake too
should have been picked up by relief staff if incumbent lacking dealing with a product of zero control |
By:
can you elaborate on "massive" limits were clearly advertised ?
By:
We did all the hills shops in a 50 mile radius was around 60k split 3 ways, even after those wins they still took bets
shops were more concerned with big multiples till we hit them consistently over a 2/3 year period. |
By:
a 50 mile radius would have been covered by a district manager who would have to explain performance on a 13 week cycle
was this one particular pp return and if so what meeting and when 3 man crew ? 60k would seriously affect performance for a district and cause alarm |
By:
It wasn't a one off it was a 3 year period for me, the two I was betting with were doing it for 15 years,i was having big hits for 2/3 years steve the bloke I was betting with won 1/4 million on a super Heinz went through the card at wolves. We weren't just winning on placepots it was everything, dogs, tricasts, forecasts, dual forecasts not going in pool there were people putting on everywhere throughout the midlands there longevity was in the early days they cleaned up over a long period whereas I was a lot younger so me getting on only lasted those 2/3 years. They took all the bets away that you had a huge edge on,i only saw the good times for a fraction they did..
