The phucker is up and down trees, what do ye expect...

Dont! as the saying goes put nothing smaller than your elbow
in your ears.chances are one day the tip will come off and you will need doctor to remove it. |
|
By:
You keep the ear buds near the PC/Mac and use one once a day...easy
Be careful not to go in too far though....5mm enough I reckon. |
|
By:
Maybe 8mm

Putting anything in your ear creates more ear wax so you have to stick buds in your ear even more til one day your ears will be so full you will find it harder to hear, so then you go to the docs and have them cleaned with a warm jet of water which is just marvellous!

This is very topical as I'm with the audiologist tomorrow.
Going to be tested and have new molds and the very latest devices. Problem is that, just after the appointment was sent, I am totally deaf in one ear! I asked if I should have it cleared before and they said "come as you are" so we'll see! |

Paulypaul, I've been told that they avoid syringing as much as possible as there are associated problems!
They prefer to use "mechanical" methods which sounds a bit dodgy to me. |
|
By:
Aunty, you are correct, it's not syringing as it used to be but a warm jet of water that squirts in then gets sucked out with the wax and yes it's 'mechanical' in that it's an electric machine. I have had it done twice and my hearing after is so sharp it's incredible. My problem is that I put ear plugs in at night and this creates more wax than most. Yuk!

Olive oil removes wax like a good'un.
|
|
By:
Ive heard of olive oil being used also, though it seems strange to me putting oil in your ears.
A doctor once told me never to use buds as you push the wax further in. I tend to use baby wipes in a tight spiral and not push too deep. Makes me eyes run and me cough like a bstard if I push too far. |

Ent consultants use an instrument called a currette for very
difficult cases.Earplugs should really only be used when the noise level is too high. |

Wax naturally makes its way out of you ears, you shouldn't be sticking cotton buds in.
I've had my ears washed out twice, not quite in the Father Jack league. Afterwards I can hear a Sparrow fart at 20 paces. |

I found the old penny bangers very effective at dislodging ear wax - just put one into somebody's ear (not your own FFS) - not too deep mind as it can damage their ear drum - and just light blue touchpaper.
Works a treat. But seriously, make sure that you stand well back, otherwise you'll get covered in wax. As an aside, when I was a kid, some other kid who was a bit of a hero (not me!) did put a banger in their mouth like a cigarette. Got a black eye as a result (and a close up view of an exploding firework). Don't know if it got rid of any earwax. |

My mother used to clean our ears out with hair grips when we were kids. Was that weird or anyone else use this method ?!

She would use the little loop at the end where the metal bends 360 degrees, only a few mm across mind. And at least she could see in there, unlike doing it yourself with cotton buds, or worse car keys and betting shop pens !!

Sica Dan...
Earplugs should really only be used when the noise level is too high. It is...The Mrs snores like a pig, doesn't look like one thankfully! |

Using betting shop pens could be funny if you put it back and wait for a punter to put it in his or her mouth.

"a warm jet of water that squirts in then gets sucked out with the wax"
But isn't that just what syringing is? I've been using warm olive oil for two weeks, and interspersed with a saline solution, and also allowing for water to go in when in the shower. I suck out the water with a pipette but all to no avail. Will report back tomorrow evening...... |

Have you tried sticking the vacuum cleaner hose down there, Aunty?
