A great song writer,a great singer the beautiful Jackie De Shannon is 74 today.
To see Jackie at her best watch her singing her own song Walk In The Room on Youtube, note her good looks and the fact you don't have to be half naked to be sexy.
She actually had several stage names but I think it's that one that most will remember.

Love her to bits and this song written by her is fabulous.
Love the way she reacts when she comes in too early
It's hard to accept that we all grow old!
The drop dead gorgeous Francoise Hardy, similarly in her early 70's. Where has the time gone?

The Searchers had a great sound but never wrote their own stuff so relied on getting the right songs and doing some great cover versions, Sweets For My Sweet (originally done by The Drifters) and When You Walk In The Room (written and recorded by Jackie DeShannon) were 2 of the best.
Jackie DeShannon very under-rated as a singer imo, and best known for her writing material but was one of the first female singer / songwriters of the 60's.
A couple of good clips above, amazing what there is on YouTube. Unfortunately a lot of early pop shows from the 60's were wiped, mainly Thank Your Lucky Stars but still some great stuff from that time.

The clip of Francoise Hardy singing All Over The World whilst being driven round Piccadilly Circus in 1965 is another classic.
Its haunting beautiful and sad in so many ways. The song itself is haunting beautiful and sad,Hardy is just beautiful as is that part of London.
The real sad part is what has become of London, that beautiful cultured city has now turned into a foreign hell hole
