Are you one and do you like it?
Are you one and do think you have the ‘hard’ job?
Would those who aren’t one you do it?
Do you think guys that do it become rather emasculated and a tad bitter?
Do you think women who become the sole bread winners gradually lose respect for guys who take on that role?

It’s certainly not for me and I’ve only seen one instance first hand with relatives, the guy earned f all compared to the woman and it ended in divorce with him trying to claim maintenance, so I'm curious about other instances.

I don't think you really call yourself a man if you are a house husband Silly

Or maybe I am still living in a cave. Good internet connection here thoughGrin

House husband/homemaker/house wife/mother etc is just a socially acceptable way of saying unemployed

Put a call out for househusbands under their preferred description of "full-time traders" or "pro punters"

I couldn't fancy it myself, part of me would probably end up feeling I was pimping off her

I am a house husband. I classify myself as one as I have young children. Wouldn't classify myself as a full-time trader more of a very very very very very very part time trader. I don't feel emasculated or bitter or as if I am pimping off my wife. Certainly don't think my wife has lost respect for me.

I personally don't think a "real man" is concerned with the definition of what a real man is and whether he fits into that definition or not.

I would agree that the majority of time you are not really a house husband if you don't have any children more just unemployed.

It's the 21st century. If a man wants to be pu55y whipped that is his preprogative. For example, it hasn't harmed Angel Gabriel's self esteem. She's already beaten it out of him. Laugh

Well I am a husband and I do spend nearly all my time at home. Not really working much at the moment as I decided to take a bit of a break. Might take a few months or six months off. Will see how it goes.
My own personal friends and family know what I do but i have been reluctant to tell a few of my wives friends who only see me an odd time. I think my wife would be embarrassed but more because her friends husbands do what they might call more respectable jobs. But i make more than them and treat my wife to more things too. It just some people get the wrong idea if they ask what you work at and you tell them you work moves!

They're all coming out now the bosses are in bed. Grin

I would not say i am a house husband. Just happens my "office" is at home. I don't do much around the home as i cant even change a plug ( literally ). If i need something in the shops and i am too busy or tired i sometimes will just phone a taxi and ask them to pick it up and drop them a tip.

Some people work hard and some people just need to work smart. I would not say one is any better than the other. I personally would not know what a hard days work looked like.

Anyway, time for bed.

I wouldn’t really class someone as a house husband if you’re working at home, you’re making more than beer money and actually contributing a significant amount to the bills.

I was thinking more along the lines of if you’re at home, allegedly keeping house , claiming whatever handouts and waiting every week for your house keeping/ pocket money/allowance/stipend.

"They're all coming out now the bosses are in bed."

Show me a man who has been happily married for more than 5 minutes and says that he is the boss and i'll show you a liar/woman with bruises.

Why do you think that househusbands/wives waiting for their weekly pocket money/allowance etc. Being married we have a joint bank account. I must admit I find it a bit strange that people who are married having separate accounts.

Paddletoe - why do you get concerned about what these other people think of you if they're not really close friends. Are you embarrassed by what you do, or is your wife embarrassed by what you do or is the opinion of people who are not really your friends and who prejudge you important. It doesn't really bother me if people view me as unemployed, my wife is happy doing what she is doing, and so am I. I don't understand why doing what you do is a bad thing if you and your significant other are happy with the situation (provided it is legal). The interesting thing is that most people don't like their job and would quite happily quit and not work given half the chance.
