I think the Irish are going through a major image change. I mean, the old image of Leprechauns, shamrocks, Guinness, horses running through council estates, toothless simpletons, people with eyebrows on their cheeks, badly tarmaced drives in this country, men in platform shoes being arrested for bombings, lots of rocks, and Beamish.

Seeing as the "recovery" is built on a housing bubble (your house is worth an extra £10,000 this year, so you are now £10,000 richer, right?) the politicians do not want a solution to the housing crisis, and if people believe it is all the fault of immigrants so much the better for them.

What recovery?

why implement policies that burn a hole on their own pockets?
what would be the benefit of having power? |

Its not the English that are stupid, its the government.
The English know the current levels of immigration are unsustainable, they don't want it. The snag is your government want the cheap labour for their donors, they also want cheap gardeners and nannies for themselves. The legal profession need immigration for all the free legal aid it provides. The Labour Party like immigration for all the new voters it brings. There has been a conspiracy between big business, the rich and the Labour Party to thwart the wishes of the English people and keep on flooding your country with immigrants whilst getting the middle class and working class to pay for it. |

I thought the people elected the government Wildman.

There is catch 22 situation with the demographic and immigration plugged the gap to deal with an ageing population.
A net fiscal positive to help pay for the pensions of our old people? that's the idea isn't ? |

David Cameron stated he would control immigration,he said " no ifs no buts " that's why he got elected.
He has reneged on his promise. His donors want the cheap labour, his rich friends want the cheap nannies and gardeners. Every MP in Kent is a Conservative, how crazy is that |
|
By:
Why are you so bothered by what happens in England WMFB?

Or is it just Kent?

20 Aug 15 11:04 David Cameron stated he would control immigration,he said " no ifs no buts " that's why he got elected. The "no ifs no buts" speech was in 2011. |

"Today's immigrants aren't coming to breathe free, they're coming to live for free."
Think I've read enough tbh. |
|
By:
The more immigrants come in the more houses we need so let some more immigrants in to build more houses but then we'll need more houses so.......... etc etc etc
|
|
By:
I have no doubt in reading these posts that criminalizing criticism of immigration is the only way forward for the English .
|
|
By:
there isn't a shortage of houses - biggest myth ever .
there is however a 'shortage' of homeowners |
|
By:
one room house for everyone, and only one person per house, that would get the country going, and everyone would be rich.

There has been a conspiracy between big business, the rich and the Labour Party ??????
It is not just the Labour party it is the Tories who also do it We have had immigration for the past five years....have the Tories stopped it no....so they are just as bad as Labour |
|
By:
It is easy to stop immigration
The government proposes a law, passes it and then enforces it..how hard is that We could stop immigration tomorrow..if we really wanted to |
|
By:
You cant put two pints into a pint pot. This country is overcrowded with not enough housing for those already here. I cannot blame the migrants, who in their position wouldnt do the same. Its a very difficult issue. My heart says let them in, my head tells me the floodgates cannot be allowed to be opened any further. There is enough deprivation in poor areas here, letting more in would only make it worse
|
|
By:
agree Pounf
There is little point in letting in more people if we already overcrowded. We should also have a maximum family size. We need to tailor our population to the amount of people we can reasonably support. If every country did this we would have a better world. |

The problems we have has with the EU is because too may ex communist East European countries were allowed
to join at once. About the only thing we get from them is people. This was very silly, we should only let one in at a time, ad gauged the effect The original EU was ok, most people stayed where they were. The EU made a colossal blunder. |

It's a vacuum flask, it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold. he told him. What you got in it? Two cups of coffee and a choc ice he replied. |

UK has too many people in a small place now and resources struggle to cope, particularly the road system. The amount of traffic on the roads is now ridiculous and motorways grind to a halt just under sheer volume of vehicles.
Absolute madness. |

Britain can only be thankful for the channel, if we didn't have it and were in Schengen, we'd have I'd guess 500,000 people just walking over the border. Germany is in a really bad position now as it has neither, I fear for how long their "good nature" will last.

Germany's taking in 800,000 - I think - wow
![]() |
|
By:
well that's my point trilby. Once they get into europe it's relatively easy to get into germany, pitch up, and make a claim.
What do they then do? Take them by lorry to a random country and dump them? THat won't work. Dump them in the sea? They're screwed. If we didn't have 25 miles of sea and border controls, we'd have similar problems. |
|
By:
Germany are damned no matter what they do now.
You could see the problem coming, not specifically Germany, but for Europe, months ago. These are the days of the internet, everyone for 1000s of miles to the south and east now knows if you make it to the EU, they win. Has there been a single boatload ever taken back to where they came from the entire time this has been going on? |

The Tsunami's been building up for years and now it's beginning to be noticed.
It's not the English / Oirish / whateverish what are daft - or maybe it is? It's the politicians who allow this sh1t to happen that fack me off - and that's why I'm voting Jeremy Corbyn (as a UKIP voter) ![]() |
