I was in the Commons the day that Heath became leader of the Tory Party. We were guests of another Conservative MP called, believe it or not, Tufton Beamish.

If heath was outed way back then...then that could've meant a Thatcher premiership taking on and winning against the miners back in the 1970's and preventing us ever joining the European Common Market.
I think that would have been too early for Thatcher and Willie Whitelaw would have been front runner.
Thatcher might never have been leader had Heath gone earlier, would you agree dunlaying?
