..a little precious but agree with the general point...
....seems as if modern technology has lobotomised many people to the extent that they no longer have the ability to immerse themselves in an experience.....whether a play...or concert....or museum....or gallery.....
....without resorting to experiencing them through a prism that is removed from themselves.......
.....perhaps many people go to these events or places just to say they have been there........and/or to look cool on social media once they have reported back to their "friends"...........
....almost as if they there is no intrinsic value in the play...or concert....or museum....or gallery....unless it can recorded and proved and broadcast to the world that they were actually there!!!!!!!

Don't agree at all, for years now in the theatre there has been a strict rule not to use phones or take pictures during a performance. Very annoying for the audience sat near some **** using a phone during a performance, and very annoying for the actors on stage seeing red lights pointing at them. Cumberbatch was just making the point and politely asking them not to do it.
