But when the US Defense Department released a statement on the raid, the vital role played by the SAS was ignored.
That's the way the Sas bosses like it, minimum fuss and little media coverage. |

What was this vital role? The report makes it sound like an American operation with a handful of SAS soldiers attached for PR purposes: "they wore US uniforms and carried American weapons". |

I'm sure that any number of followers of Peace-Loving religions based in the UK will welcome this news, and issue a very loud public 'Thank You' to the SAS and US for dealing so severely with persons who have 'besmirched' the religion. Right?

Completely agreed. The security forces were involved in such operations in Northern Ireland during The Troubles, so there is no reason why The Enemy Within shouldn't be take out of the picture over here too. The sooner the better. |

Ramruna: that report makes it clear that the SAS's role covered the vital How Not To Be Seen role, without which the US forces would not have known what to attack or what they would have been facing when they got there.
I've no idea whether the report is accurate, but I don't see how you could sneer at the British role in the operation on the basis of that report. |
