Usually fly but quite fancy driving this year.

According to Google maps there isn't that much difference between the main French resorts (Chamonix etc) and Austria 900 miles v 1000 miles.

Used to driving fairly long distances so would break it into 2 days with an overnighter half way.

Are the roads a bit of a nightmare as you approach the mountains or is it fairly straightforward?

Would be in a decent enough car - A7 - so comfortable enough.

Any advice welcome.

An Austin A7, Thommos?

Would love one of them Tommy! Not sure it would handle a 2000 mile round trip though!

Could do a forum trip to Ascot in an Austin A7 - you, me HH Sultan and bigmo all in those old style driving goggles and tweed looking like something from The Wind in the Willows!

Great idea Thommos!

- and you could dangle your bucket from out the window to fund the trip!

Whoa there big fella - just pop your details in my bucket and I will inundate you with useless emails / text messages promising cast iron certainties at £22.99 a minute on my premium tip line!

Thats one for the judge! (even though the winner won by about three lengths).
