Funny you should ask, TheChaser, as just this week I've bought a few random bottles of all sorts seeing as it's 'Summer In Stoke' - and have been experimenting with the exotic mixtures to try and pretend there's some sun out...somewhere!

So, at the moment, I'm partaking of V-KAT (Dry Schnappes, 22%, £7.50 a litre from Iceland) with a dash of Tesco 50% fruit juice Pear and Lychee Squash, a load of ice and then some Tesco Cloudy Lemonade added to the brew.

Not bad at all.

Talking of Crabbie's products, allow me to put in a good word for their Strawberry and Lime Ginger Beer. I went to a Chester Races meeting recently where the company were sponsoring various races and they were giving out free sample tastes of their products onsite. This Strawberry one was particularly pleasing on the palate. In fact it was so nice that I made a pilgrimage to each part of the course where their 'free samples' vehicles and stands were set up...

I can well imagine one of our Chit Chat number washing down his 24 daily Peppa Pig Strawberry ice cream lollies with a crate or two of this marvellous drink. (I won't embarrass the Great Man by naming Tommy here).

May I also recommend a cheaper take on Pimms with "Jeeves" - same sort of thing but just £6 a litre from Tesco (17.5% alcohol) - or £4.50 for 70cl from B&M.

If you pour a decent slug into a high-ball glass, add a load of ice, give it a good mashing along with the Jeeves, then add a liberal dose of lime juice and top it up with Tesco lime flavoured soda water, it all makes for a very pleasant combination (adding a wedge of lime and a fresh mint leaf or two makes it even better).

Can I also recommend a delicious new cocktail called "The Count's Rocket Fuel".

Recipe :

7/14ths of a big bottle of Smirnoff

312/624ths of a big bottle of GlenTommy Bargain Price Whisky (£4.99 from all good off-licences and plenty of bad ones)

6 bottles of Stella

Pour the whole lot into a big punchbowl and drink it all down as fast as possible

For best results, drink before going out on a big night out in Wolverhampton or before taking on allcomers in the car park at Lakeside.

Alun, do you ever listen to 'Trust Darts' on the Colin Murray show on TalkSport?

It's where renowned darts players play one leg of 501 in their own homes (or wherever they are at the time) against their opponent over the airwaves. Each has to shout their score up as they go along - the point being; it's all done on trust.

They even have their walk-on music playing at the start of the match and have to say where they're walking from (one player this week said it was from Bargain Booze over the road!).
It's a brilliant laugh.

Alun, I think I heard Colin say earlier this week he'd put a separate special bit on the 'catch up' on TalkSport for it.

I'll try to find it for you.

He hasn't lumped them all together but put up each individual match.

You can find them all here (among his other catch-up stuff):

http://talksport.com/colin-murray

Here's the semi-final between Tony O'Shea and Dave Chisnall:

TheChaser, B&M is an excellent shop for all sorts of bargains (if you overlook the 'Arse/Face Sponge'!).

They also do V-Kat in 70cl bottles for approx £5.25, which is terrific for a clear alcohol mixer at 22%.
Why buy vodka etc if you're going to add a load of fruity nonsense to it for summer?

They also do a ready mixed Mojito at just £3.50 for 70cl (10% alcohol) which is very nice indeed.
