I had never heard of him until a few weeks ago. I realise that, to a point, this is true of many recent political leaders from Dave Cameron to Tony Blair to Ed Milliband, until the few weeks before they actually got their post. Thing is people aren't talking about Corbyn in a tone that suggests he is new on the scene. Rather that he has been a well known firebrand that has been waiting in the wings for decades. LIke Ken Livingstone. The difference being I have heard of Ken Livingstone.
So who actually knew anything about him before this recent election? btw I kind of hope he wins. A labour party that is true labour in opposition is worth more than a new labour party that is essentially tory in power.
also having leaders who can speak well makes democracy a farce.
"we will nto raise taxes" and then they do anyway should be punishable as its fraud ffs

He's the only labour leader i would vote for in an election. He can answer a straight question. All the others in contention are trained evaders. He might say something that won't please you but at least it's honest. I hate this management technique of politicians trying to please everyone.
Here is the simple truth... It does not matter who the new leader will be. Because he probably wont last the four long years to the next election (howard, IDS and hague were all interim leaders). I think that is the more probable reason chuka umunna quit the running.
The other reason is after ten years in power the electorate start to get twitchy and want to vote someone else in... doesn't matter who it is, they just want a change. Back and forth politics.

He is true labour, the rest of the candidates are vacuous career politicians who will say anything to get elected and have no principles.
But he'll never be PM because the UK is centre/centre right these days.
