Should be re-introduced in my opinion along with the compulsory chipping of animals.

The average dog has a carbon footprint equivalent to a 4x4 Vehicle which are taxed additionally.

I suggest that about £100 a year would be about the right amount to pay, six month lead-in time after which all non-chipped dogs should be euthanised.

If you can afford a dog, you can afford the annual charge in my opinion.

don't see the connection between the need for a licence and a carbon footprint ,if true(highly doubtful) the owners will have paid for that print in tax anyway.
Would much rather see city driven 4x4  owners/drivers euthanized  tbh ,cat owners restricted to 1 pet which is not be allowed to roam .
Cat curfew needed as well  ,all animals out after 11 should be humanely destroyed
A few dogs are in the hands of bad owners ,all dog owners with pets called tyson/buster should be on the muzzle or preferable   castrated/spayed imo .
Cats should be gradually phased out and a right to hunt them imposed ,tail bounty (£2 a dozen ) should be introduced to save the  sweet wee tweet tweets .

It's true about the Carbon footprint, dogs eat a lot of meat. Plus the mess they leave when it's digested and their owners leave it. Plus the cost of diseases that people pick up from these animals and/or their waste as well as the attacks etc. Makes me cringe when I see dog's licking people, I mean it was probably licking it's own or another dog's ass about 2 mins before.....

I agree about a Cat Licence too, another good way of raising tax from idiots. If they can afford to feed and vet them, they can afford a licence fee too.

I would rather euthanize the drunks that foul our pavements in more ways than one.
Alternatively I'd fine people for being drunk in the street £1000. If they can afford the drink they can afford the fine.

children have a pretty big carbon footprint as well, she would have a license for them too?

how about air conditioning units?

the argument for licensing is about responsible animal ownership, not about carbon footprints.

Actually DStyle I think there should be a license to have kids.
