I can't be ar5ed putting up the lyrics but I was in the Dr's surgery today when Where Do You Go To My lovely came on. Maybe forty years ago I may have found it alluring and left bank. Today I thought what a load of pretentious ****y.

Sylvia's mother.
From the days before everyone had their own mobile phone. Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's busy, too busy to come to the phone . Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's trying to start a new life of her own. Sylvia's mother says "Sylvia's happy... So why don't you leave her alone?" And the operator says "Forty cents more, for the next three minutes." |

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Ain't got time to take a fast train Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home My baby, just-a wrote me a letter Well, I mean where do we begin in deconstructing The Box Tops finest 3 minutes? 'A ticket for an aeroplane'. How quaint! No e-booking with priority seat reservation? 'Aint got time to take a fast train'. Not now that ASLEF are calling the shots! 'I'm a going home'. Yes - but because youre under 35 you still live at home with your parents in Cameron's Britain, so the chances of you doing anything with 'your baby (sic)' whilst under the same roof as your mum and dad, seems pretty remote 'My baby just wrote me a letter' - I mean, sometimes this sh1t requires no explanation, does it? |

he'd have all sorts of issues these days, from animal rights to health and safety, political correctness gone mad
There's an old Australian stock man, lying, dying And he gets himself up on one elbow And he turns to his mates, who are all gathered 'round him And he says Watch me wallaby's feed, mate Watch me wallaby's feed They're a dangerous breed, mate So watch me wallaby's feed All together now Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Keep me cockatoo cool, Curl Keep me cockatoo cool Don't go acting the fool, Curl Just keep me cockatoo cool All together now Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Take me koala back, Jack Take me koala back He lives somewhere out on the track, Mac So take me koala back All together now Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Let me abos go loose, Lou Let me abos go loose They're of no further use, Lou So let me abos go loose All together now Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Mind me platypus duck, Bill Mind me platypus duck Don't let him go running amok, Bill Just mind me platypus duck All together now Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Play your didgeridoo, Blue Play your didgeridoo Uh, like, keep playing while I shoot through, Blue Play your didgeridoo All together now Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Tan me hide when I'm dead, Fred Tan me hide when I'm dead So we tanned his hide when he died, Clyde And that's it hanging on the shed All together now Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down Tie me kangaroo down, sport Tie me kangaroo down |

Sylvia's Mother was based on a true story of one of the band members who wanted to speak to his first love before she got married to somebody else.
This actually is, Sylvia's mother. . http://i59.tinypic.com/103j1av.jpg |

House of the rising sun is about 85 years old, written and performed by Leadbelly.
Frigid Pink version was always my favourite. |

I got that a bit wrong, although Leadbelly did record it. In '64 I thought The Animals version was a new song, like many other records.
The oldest known existing recording is by Appalachian artists Clarence "Tom" Ashley and Gwen Foster, who recorded it for Vocalion Records in 1934.[2] Ashley said he had learned it from his grandfather, Enoch Ashley. |

@spellingandgrammarchecker -- cool re Sylvia's mother.
I guess most people have heard that the recently-resigned Greek finance minister's wife was the posh student in Pulp's Common People. |

C30 C60 C90 Go - Bow Wow Wow
Every day I get a brand new show Off TV, record and radio. I breeze with the sleaze on my cassette Cause I got the affirmative I know you, man C30 C60 C90, go C30 C60 C90, go C-3-0, C-6-0 C30 C60 C90, go C90, go 3-0 6-0 9-0, go A bit-bam-boogie and a booga-rooga My cassette's just like a bazooka A bligger, a blagger, a bippity-bop Well I'm going down to the record shop. And the boss said "LP, single, picture cover or plain? I've got all the hits and all the big names Give the biggest discounts in my store If you buy three records, I'll give you four" C30 C60 C90 go Off the radio I get constant flow Hit it, pause it, record and play Turn it, rewind and rub it away. C30 C60 C90, go C30 C60 C90, go C30 C60 C90, go C-3-0, C-6-0 C30 C60 C90, go C90, go 3-0 6-0 9-0, go It used to break my heart when I went in your shop And you said my records were out of stock So I don't buy records in your shop Now I tape them all, cause I'm Top of the Pops. Now I got a new way to move It's shiny and black and don't need a groove. Well, I don't need no album rack I carry my collection over my back. C30 C60 C90, go Off the radio I get constant flow Hit it, pause it, record and play Turn it, rewind and rub it away Policeman stopped me in my tracks Said "Hey you, you can't tape that! You're under arrest cause it's illegal" So I shoved him off and he blew his whistle I'm a pirate and I keep my loot, So I blew him out with my bazooka C30 C60 C90, go Off the radio I get a constant flow Hit it, pause it, record and play Turn it, rewind and rub it away You're rich enough to have a record collection I'll bring my bazooka round for inspection Sometimes it better get a hit twice as fast So I press my playback to make it last I breeze with the sleaze on my cassette I've got the affirmative, I know you now! C30 C60 C90 go Off the radio I get a constant flow Hit it, pause it, record and play Turn it, rewind and rub it away C30 C60 C90, go C30 C60 C90, go C30 C60 C90, go C-3-0, C-6-0 C30 C60 C90, go C90, go 3-0 6-0 9-0, go! |

I think you'll find Alan Price claimed to have written " House of The Rising Sun "
There was a version a few years earlier by Joan Baez followed quickly by a Dylan one on his debut LP,which is probably where the Animals heard it. Dylan and Baez were only known to folkies in the UK when the Animals recorded it. Price DID write the distinctive organ riff that carries their version. |

Johnny Burnett.
Ooh, you come out of a dream, Peaches and cream, Lips like strawberry wine, You're sixteen, You're beautiful and you're mine. You're all ribbons and curls, Oh, what a girl! Eyes that twinkle and shine You're sixteen, You're beautiful and you're mine. You're my baby, you're my pet, We fell in love on the night we met. You touched my hand, my heart went "pop", And ooh, when we kissed we could not stop. You walked out of my dream, Into my arms, Now you're my angel divine, You're sixteen, You're beautiful and you're mine. You're my baby, you're my pet, We fell in love on the night we met, You touched my hand, my heart went pop, Ooh when we kissed we could not stop. You walked out of my dreams and into my car, Now you're my angel divine, You're sixteen, you're beautiful, and you're mine. |

No I don't want your I.D. And I can see that you're so far from home But it's no hanging matter It's no capital crime Apparently Mick used to sing it as 13 year old back in the 70s. |
