I think the figures come from the ONS ie not the government

If you run home behind the bus you'll save £2.20

Run home behind a taxi instead, and save £10.

Bus fares are £1.50 in London. You can get a number 3 from Crystal Palace to Oxford Circus for that amount which is more than fair enough really.

Fare enough, indeed.

Plus oil prices going down

sounds like youre subsidising the old dears free buspasses

When the zones were in place (no idea if they still are) you could get from Stratford to Romford for 40p on an 86 bus, as it was all Zone 6.

Note for BBC viewers

Romford is NOT east London, or I'd have walked there.

£2.20 single in the West Midlands. Although I have a pass I quite often pay the fare when going out early in the morning. It's just loose change these days, price of a posh coffee. Surely a season ticket works out even cheaper if travelling regularly by bus.

Hate to think how much it averages out by car, nearer £1 a mile in my case.

Is there a time restriction on when you can use your pass Foinavon?
24/7 in Scotland.
Report Foinavon • July 17, 2015 12:55 AM BST
Not before 9:30 am here. Have to pay normal price before that time.
