My wife has been named in her great aunts will she died in 2012.
My wife's family is very large and solicitors are having trouble tracking down all those that are named in the will.  So things have seemed to ground to a halt.
Can anyone tell me how long this state of affairs will go on until they must settle my wife's aunts will?

surely they have to know how many are alive / were alive at the time of passing?

if it a large family then would expect a wait unless you could help the executor.....

... normally until all of the proceeds of the will have been used up in legal fees.

Who are the executors? If its the solicitors then you are in a very bad position and there is plenty of truth in the above post. If its one of the family then you could always changes solicitors and try and find one that actually does things in a sensible time scale. That of course is easier said than done.

We were contacted by a firm called Title Research.
They contacted my wife because she was next of kin to her late mother who was originally name in my wife's great aunts will.
Some of her family live in Canada and others refuse to get in contact with this firm.

"they refuse to get in contact"

From where does the knowledge come as to the above?

Has someone been told that they refuse to get in contact?

Very strange indeed!

ah oldies....cant you reason with the executor and agree to leaving their cut with them and any costs resulting from their "refusing to get in touch" come from their part of the pot?

The only thing the executor said was its now in the hands of the solicitor, but they won't say how long it's going to take. We just want to know how long they can go on before they have to settle up
