got a phone call from a company in Tenerife saying they had just upgraded a hotel in Tenerife and would I like to stay in a 2 bed 2 bath apartment to see what it was like for£206. paid with my debit card and was emailed the booking form only to be told that I would have to give a morning or afternoon up to attend a presentation. I emailed them back and told them I wished to cancel and to return my 206 as they did not tell me I would have to attend a presentation. and I would not have booked if I had known. the have said the 206 is non refundable. is there anything I can do ta.

if you can show that you were not informed that the booking was non refundable prior to making payment you have a case.
but it's going to be hard work, you dealing with a bunch of snake oil salesman, and someone is pocketing a bonus based on signing you up to a holiday. i'm not that ashamed to admit that i had a holiday job a long long time ago calling people up to get them to attend these sorts of concession breaks so that the sales team could have a crack at selling them a timeshare. you'd be surprised by the number of people who are adamant they're not interested in timeshares at the time of making the booking who end up buying one. |

Go on the holiday..... (the accommodation will probably be very good), sit through the 'presentation', tell them thanks but no thanks, enjoy the rest of the week in Tenerife.
They are probably happy with a 2 in 10 strike rate..... so just be one of the 80% that say no. |

This was years ago so not sure it's still the same but a work colleague went on one.
Was bussed in to the place where the presentation took place and was there for 4 hours. He's a strong character but says he felt intimidated the whole time he was there and his wife was crying at the end. |
