Well the Sky headline is 'Alien Life On Philae Comet, Scientists Say'

The Guardian goes for 'Philae comet could be home to alien life, say scientists'

For once I have to agree with Sky, shirley there right on this one?

comets and planets in this solar system have exchanged material since the formation of the solar system and still continues.

Microbial/virus life is therefore very likely within the solar system. (though not sure they can confirm 100% or anywhere near that on the comet)

other intelligent life is on a completely different level too.

The Sky headline is sloppy and inaccurate. Here is what they report the scientist as saying:

Prof Wickramasinghe said: "What we're saying is that data coming from the comet seems to unequivocally, in my opinion, point to micro-organisms being involved in the formation of the icy structures, the preponderance of aromatic hydrocarbons, and the very dark surface.

Pure speculation by the prof and he knows it judging by the qualifiers "seems to" and "in my opinion".

The truth is no-one knows. There is insufficient evidence at the moment.

I am assuming aasbff.......

....that you believe in a "creator"....and that creator was God.....and that God sent Jesus to teach us....

..if that is the case.....presumably you will accept that if God created everything then......

..he also created "evil" and all the bad things in the world..........

I'm turning into a catalyst for your discussions on religion aren't I? Devil

Do I believe in a creator? Not totally sure on that one. I think this world might have been created but not necessarily by the God that most people believe in.

Do I believe in an afterlife? I think so. That or re-incarnation type thing.

Do I believe God created evil? No. Humans create evil.

...but presumably you think your God created humans...in which case he created them with the capacity for evil....

..why would a compassionate all powerful being do that....was it a mistake??????!!!!

'I think this world might have been created but not necessarily by the God that most people believe in.'

I don't necessarily think God is a bearded bloke in the sky is what I mean by that. I think God is in each and every one of us in someway or another. Despite are varying races and beliefs, WE ARE ALL ONE.

egner, CS Lewis for me is a genius and he gives a reason for that very well here...

aasbff......

where to start with that.....

...why on earth...if you were a compassionate, supreme being or deity... whatever you would like to call him ..her or it...

..and you were designing creation...

..why would you possibly want to give wriggle room to the entities you have created to cause harm... misery... and destruction in order to satisfy and appease your own neo liberal concerns about free will.

..you are the creator after all...who do you have to answer to???...presumably you know the consequences of giving free will and the capacity for evil...sooner or later evil will be enacted with all the consequences that entails.

...why not give free will ..but ensure evil is never part of the plan and is never in the game???!!!
