Police have been 'liaising closely' with the muslim community since the attack in Tunisia.

Muslim graves have been damaged in what has been described as a 'hate crime' In Bulwell Cemetery.

Nottingham City Council said it was an 'act of hatred'

As it's a tad difficult to hate a gravestone or a dead person....I'd say it was just vandalism.

Vandal demonisation again !

Renaissance and Early Modern writers characterized the Vandals as barbarians, "sacking and looting" Rome. This led to the use of the term "vandalism" to describe any senseless destruction, particularly the "barbarian" defacing of artwork. However, modern historians tend to regard the Vandals during the transitional period from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages as perpetuators, not destroyers, of Roman culture

I don't think that anybody is suggesting 'hate' towards a piece of stone. But then, you probably realised that. Maybe it just didn't fit your agenda.

What agenda?

That is very difficult to assess. Too difficult for me. Maybe you don't have one? Who knows? Certainly not me.Plain

I can recall when I first heard of 'attacks' of a similar nature on the Jewish Cemetery in east London many many years ago.

So many years ago, that they were reported in the old Stratford Express, which is no longer published.

It was described as 'wanton vandalism' not 'hate crime'.

I shall keep my beady eye on the Newham Recorder website (as you do) to see if the next attack on the Jewish cemetery is a 'hate crime' or 'wanton vandalism'
